"competition"

C's bday was Monday and during the day a woman, who didn't have his cell number, called the house while he was at work. She wouldn't give me her name and said she was "just someone who wanted to wish him a happy birthday". I thought it was weird. After calling 2 more times, she finally called when he was home, started saying 'happy birthday' and talking to him, and finally revealed her identity when he said, "Thank you. Who are you?"

The mystery woman is someone we went to HS with 15 years ago and had a huge crush on C the whole time (and I think in middle school too). Needless to say, she didn't sound all that excited to hear he's married. She just moved back to the area and said she'll call back to hang out.

The ironic part: 2 days before C was saying that he doesn't need FB because if anyone wants to get in touch with him, they can call him. And yet, I think FB is a less creepy way of tracking down your childhood crushes.

  • that is wierd. what did your dh say about it?

  • Aside from the whole married thing, I think she should have realized there was no chance when he had to ask "who are you?"

  • He said, "I told you I don't need Facebook." And laughed and thought it was weird.

    Cooky Mama - good point.

I've been teasing him about it a lot.

  • it is kind of flattering..to your hubby well, for obvious reasons and def to you bc you married him!

  • That's super weird. It's one thing to call, but another not to even give you her name. I hate people.
  • veron - it is flattering to him, I guess. And I know that at least part of the reason she liked him so much is because she is very strange and got teased a lot and he was always nice to her.

keb - I think it was fairly inappropriate not to give a name. Before I knew who it was, I was going to post about that part. It made me think of the ex-gf who e-mailed your husband (it was you, right?).

  • What a freaking weirdo!! Who doesn't give their name when a woman answers especially. Psycho.

Yup, that was me. Maybe that's why I was so annoyed by her antics. Though your comment about her being odd and dh being the only one nice to her is rather sweet.
