What do you pay...

for your cell phone?

What all does your plan include?

Do you have a home phone and a cell phone or just one?

If any of you remember, I made a post a few weeks back about Sprint. I am looking for a new plan. I get a company discount with ATT and Verizon, so I am thinking of switching to one of  them. So I was wondering what you all are spending to give me some perspective on what a good phone deal is (I mean I've been with Sprint since I got my cell phone in 2004 and haven't changed my plan other than merging with DH, so I am out of the loop).

Re: What do you pay...

  • IDH and I share a paln with AT&T for $130 a month. It includes 1500 minutes and texts, plus data plans because he has a blackbeery and I have an IPhone. It seems like a lot, but I guess its not to bad for the both of us.
  • Oh, and we also have a land line, but its really cheap, like $20 bucks a month with the comcast triple play(internet, cable, and phone).
  • DH and I both have BlackBerries through Verizon.  Our bill this month was $134 for a family voice plan, 2 data plans, and $5 texting plan.  I can't remember how many texts that includes, but I don't ever go over since most of my friends I text have BBs and we use BB Messenger.

We do not have a home phone and have never had one.  I doubt we'll get one unless for some reason we need one once we have a kid.

  • I had At&t and paid far too much and had sh!tty service.  Once they bought Cingular their coverage went to sh!t IMO.  I paid about $130 for both DH and myself for just text and calls.

We have verizon now and I love my service and coverage.  We both just got new phones (D's Droid and my Droid Eris [which i lurve by the way]) so our plan is actually a little more but it's because it's unlimited everything (internet, calls, texts, etc).  We only have our cell phones and the bill is $150.

  • We have both a cell and land line...

We have Verizon-cause no other plan works in our area (ok, Tmobile might...) I have an LG touch -and wished I got a blackberry w the apps... oh well, I don't NEED one... For our 2 phones, we have unlim texting-just under $120. I think I get 25GB of internet-whatever that time is-I'm a newbie...

Keep thinking of adding Mom to our plan-still might.

  • We have Verizon.  DH and I share 1400 mins and have unlimited texts and data.  I think our bill is $135.  We haven't had any problems with them and have had them since 2006.
  • I am glad you asked this! I was starting to think we were paying to much, but it kinda seems average. Plus, we are pretty happy with the service.
  • After years of paying $50 to talk on the phone and send maybe 75 text messages each month, I decided to change my cell phone plan and get a pay-as-you-go phone with TMobile. I think it will average out to about $10 a month, but I hate the phone. So far, service outside of NYC blows so I may have to switch back to Verizon when were move.
  • We also have a landline because of our alarm system.  That is in a bundle also with Verizon for TV and Internet.  I think it comes out to be about $35 for the phone.
  • We have AT&T, never had any problems with them.

We pay around $80 a month for a family plan with 2 phones, I think somewhere around 1000 minutes/month, unlimited nights/weekends and mobile2mobile, rollover minutes, and a text plan for 500 texts/month per phone.  We don't have internet service on our phones.  I also get a discount through my work for AT&T (and Verizon for that matter), and I think it works out to about $10-12 off/month (the ~$80/month I quoted above already reflects this discount).

We also have a landline, but it's coupled with our Comcast cable and internet so it's only about $20/month I think.

  • We have AT&T. It's about $95 a month. We have 700 mins a piece, 200 texts a piece. We never go over, well DH does sometimes on texts only because this one guy obviously can't carry on a phone conversation and texts all the time, he won't even answer when DH calls him. But anyways, it's an ok plan.
  • Oh and I have no data plan. My phone doesn't even take pictures. Someday I'll join the 21st century.
  • I am on MIL's family plan.  M is not (he "hates Verzion Wireless").  There are 5 of us on the plan.  We have a Family Plan which has 700 minutes and Unlimited Texting.  We never go over our minutes because FIL doesn't use his phone at all (they are wasting their money not that IMO), MIL hardly ever has her phone on either, and the rest of us mainly text.  My part of the bill is $40/month, everyone elses is a couple bucks lower (I have the main line so I pay the majority of the taxes from the plan cost).  I have an LG enV 2, I love it.  M has AT&T, he too is wasting his money because he has a cell phone through work (Verizon) and only uses that, so he is paying around $40/month for a phone he doesn't use (though he did use it on his vacation because he had to leave his work cell at work for his fill-in guy to use).  He just has the cheapest phone they offered (it's a Nokia) because he is not allowed to have a camera phone because of where he works (he COULD have one, but he wouldn't be able to bring it to work).  He has something like 400 minutes (maybe even 700) I don't know and he has roll-over minutes, no texting plan either because he doesn't like texting.

I'm thinking though that after my contract runs up on this, I will just get a plan with M because this whole family plan with them is a p.i.t.a.

Oh yea, and we do have a land line (per M, he insists on having one), I never use it, but it's f*cking ridiculous, it's somewhere around $60 or something a month, we pay extra on all our utilities so we actually pay $75 FOR A F*CKING LAND LINE!  It's freakin' retarded but M won't get rid of it, and no, it's not a bundle pack.  I hate phones.

Sorry, this also kinda turned into a rant a bit, I'm in a foul mood today.

Wow, sorry that was so long.

  • Wow, I thought I was being ripped off with our plan. We pay $84 a month and have 550 shared anytime, unlimtied night/weekends starting at 6, mobile to mobile, and unlimited texts. We pay $84 bc we're on a old plan and have a lot of discounts from them bc of it -- Free txting on one phone and free 6 night/weekends ($20 discount). It's a great plan if they ever billed me correctly.

Looking at me employee discounts, I can get 700 anytime, unlimited n/w, txts, vcast, vnavigation, mobile email, & data sent/receive (which I am assuming is internet...) for $119.09 for DH and I.  With ATT I can get 550anytime w rollover, unlimited n/w, txts, and data for 119.99.

I almost think the increase is worth it to get the net, get rid of the hassle or sprint, and to improve our service.

  • DH and I pay around $170 a month.  We have Verizon and DH has a droid and I have a blackberry.  My dad is also on our plan because it was only $10 a month instead of him getting his own plan and paying $30.  We both have data packages and unlimited text.  I don't know how many minutes we have because  it doesn't really matter, almost every call we make is Verizon to Verizon.  I don't know about your states but in PA we get taxed out the arse on cell phone bills.

Oh and no land line for us.

  • We have AT&T, and it's not my favorite company, but we both love our iPhones, so we just suck it up and deal with it. We pay about $140 a month. Since we both have iPhones, it's an extra $30 each for that usage pkg on that. I have an 18% discount too that I get from Mary Kay, so that gives us around $20 off each bill. We have 550 mins to share, and then unlimited M2M and night/weekends.

  • I pay approx $60.00 a month for voice and unlimited text.  I am on AT&T and so is all of my family, so I have a low number of minutes, but I never go over since everyone I talk to is member to member.  Text is what gets me, so I went with the unlimited plan.  I would love to get a family plan with DH, but his work pays for his, like the bill goes directly to them so that isn't an option.  I haven't had any issues with AT&T, and if I can age myself for a minute, I have had them FOREVER.  Since the original Motorola StarTac phone. image

We do not have a land line, just our cells.  We had a land line originally for our alarm, then went to satelite connection for the alarm.

This!  Except I have no Mary Kay discount.  Boo.

We also ended our land line.  The phone people warned us that this would mean our 911 calls would go to CHP (Highway Patrol) instead of the normal route.  CHP is good enough for me.

I would totally rather have Verizon!  But my whole family is on AT&T and I love our iPhones.  We only have like 700 shared minutes and we never use them and have tons of roll over.  We also added the $5 text plan.

  • I pay about $190 for ours with AT&T.  That includes my line with two family talk lines, 1400 min, unlimited text and data(which include internet usage).  And of course unlimited nights and weekends, and mobile to mobile.  The great thing about AT&T is the rollover minutes.  We have a ton of those too.
  • We have a family plan thru US Cellular.  We pay around $90 a month w/ tax for 1000 anytime minutes, voicemail, call waiting, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7pm, 250 text messages per line, and 45 min. of roaming built in.  We each have an LG phone (nothing super fancy) and no land line.

We hear this all the time too, but our alarm has a "panic" button that instantly connects you with someone who talks to you through the alarm box and instantly alerts police and fire, seems easier to me.

  • I pay $170 for Verizon (BB Storm) which includes the data plan, unlimited text, etc. I also pay for my parent's (2) phones (because I don't want them without one) and that accounts for $40 of that. We share the 1400 minutes, but never go over because my parents hardly use their phones and we all call each other anyway (bro has Verizon too). Plus, we use the "10 numbers you call the most any-network" free and I have DH as one of those.

DH is still contracted under T-Mobile and he pays $60 for his phone that isn't very fancy or has any bells and whistles on it. When his contract is up, I will get him on our Verizon plan :)

I love Verizon, and have been a customer since '99. I also text all of my non-Verizon friends and family through BB messenger so that works out great. My brother has the Motorola Droid and I want one so bad, but then I wouldn't have the BBM. Decisions, decisions.

  • We have AT&T. Family plan w/2 phones, 200 texts a piece and I think 400 minutes = around $100 a month. No need for tons of minutes, we really only call each other! We'd switch to verizon, but whenever we visit my mom or MIL out in the boonies, AT&T is the only company that works out there. We don't have a land line.
  • Oh! And we have a land line bc the cell service in our complex SUCKS. I swear it's like once you drive through the gate it's the dead zone! I think our phone works out to be around $30-$40 a month, we just signed up with Verizon FiOS Triple Bundle, so I'm not sure how it all breaks down just yet.

  • We have Sprint, and ours is $99 a month, after taxes. I have no idea how many minutes it includes, but we never even come close to using them up, and I use mine a ton. It also includes text, but not data. We both have pretty simple phones. And no land line for us!
