Which half-marathon are you doing? I am a big fan of half-marathons, though haven't run any in a long while. I think the last one I ran was the National one in D.C. during its first year (2006), and I did not train AT ALL for it. Not that I recommend that, but if you're in decent shape and running isn't anything new to you, then I think you'll be fine. Good luck!

  • I'm doing the Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon, it's in northern San Diego County. I've done one 1/2 before and did okay at it (my goal was sub-2 hours and I finished at 1:58) with very minimal training (3ish weeks), but I had ITB issues for a little while after. I also ran my first marathon right before the wedding and did okay with minimal training on that one. Lucky for me, I've always been a decent runner and get back into my groove fairly easily. Last Saturday's run definitely spooked me though! I'm hoping it was a combination of the unexpected heat (85 degrees in Jan!) along with all of the eating/boozing that we've been doing. I'll report back tomorrow about how tonight goes. I'm nervous, but if I don't start now then I'm going to be in REALLY bad shape come race day!
