One more thing to think about if trying lose weight ...

So after 6 weeks of not shedding a single pound but in fact gaining 2 pounds I was starting to get really upset. I get it, it was Christmas and all but I really only was little naughty in regards to food and exercising the week of.

So a little background. From the beggining of September to the end of Novemeber I lost 26lbs. I was attending the gym 1-1.5hrs five times a week and was keeping calories around 1500 - 1900 (which is really good considering my weight). Then soon as Decemeber came it all stopped! So I start exercising harder and eating even less. Nada, nothing was happening. So after seeing my nutritionist (who actually believed me that I was exercising this hard and eating better, unlike my doctor) said that its possible I have a Vitamin D deficiency. I got tested and yup I do ... I just hope that is the actual reason why I am not loosing weight. I started supplments and my weigh in day is this Sunday morning. Here's hoping!Confused

I get annoyed at how many things you have to take into consideration in regards to weight loss. What and when your eating. How much, what kind and what time are you exercising? Are you taking vitamins and are they the right kind of vitamins? Are you sleeping enough? Are you stressed? Are you eating enough protein? Do you have a hormone imbalance?

I am tired of thinking about my weight all the time, but getting healthy I guess is that important.

  • When I was on weight watchers, your type of problem came up for discussion a few times during the meetings.  I remember the meeting leader mentioning that if you exercise more without eating more, your body begins to go into starvation mode and will try to hold onto the fat that is there.

Have you started taking vitamin D supplements now that you know you had the dificientcy?  If so, have you noticed any weight loss since?

  • I just found out about the vitamin defiency yesterday after my nutrtionist called me. So I started taking my supplements this morning and I wait till Sunday mornings to weigh myself.

I should be fine with having enough calories to not go into starvation mode from all the exercising as I have a nutritionist monitoring my food intake.

I am hoping these supplements will get me back on track. I will post on Sunday to let you know how it turns out.

  • how often you eat is also important.  If you eat every 3-4 hours your body is less likely to hold onto calories and store them for later.  It learns it doesn't have to because you'll provide more "fuel" on a regular basis.  I eat 6 smaller meals/snacks per day.
  • what causes the vit D deficiency? just not enough vitamin D? Vitamin D is added to milk, is it in anything else? very interesting!! anyways hopefully taking the supplements gets you back on track!
