BNOTB! People keep asking me....

We got married in June......and now I keep getting asked so 'When are you having kids?' I can't even say 'I feel crappy/having a blah day...' at work or to a friend without some saying 'OMG! You're pregnant!    ummm.....no!!!!

Do people keep asking you?

Re: BNOTB! People keep asking me....

  • Only BSC MIL who has been pushing for kids for years (not marriage, just kids).  If any randomer does ask, I just say we're enjoying married life for now. It's none of their business either way.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I get asked every once in a while.

My mom really got me going the other day when we were talking about pickles, and I made the comment that I ate a whole jar of dill spears in a week. She looked at me like I had something else to tell her (I knew she was referring to babies). I have no idea how she put those two together, but she is an idiot.

  • Pickles have gotten me in trouble for years. I love pickles, so every time I ask for extra, I get asked if I'm PG.  I seriously doubt all pregnant women crave pickles!

  • I get asked every once in a while.  It's really not often at all, but when it does happen, I just tell people we're waiting and enjoying married life for now.

  • Oh yeah. The second you say anything related to cravings, nausea, fatigue everyone throws out the "P" word. I don't care -- I think it's hilarious.

  • I would love to have the guts to tell my MIL, "You will be the first to know when anything comes in or out of my vagina" but for now laugh and tell her that she is going to have to settle for a grandcat.
  • thankfully our sisters just got pregnant so we are off the radar.
  • I think our parents have been extra careful not to ask us, lest they jinx it or something.  The grandmothers have no such compunction, however; DH's grandmother was asking me at the wedding.

I did tell my sister we might start trying at the end of this year, though, so I am waiting for that little tidbit to travel back to my parents.  They may still not say anything though--fingers crossed!

This happens to me all the time too, especially now that I'm married.  I love love love pickles, and whenever I tell people that I always get the side eye and have to say no, I'm not pregnant, I just like pickles.

  • We get asked fairly often... people always get really excited and want to know when we going to start, and then i tell them we are wanting to wait another year or so atleast, and until we have another house, and until i have been at my new job atleast a year.. then they are always like "oh that is so smart" why the crap are you getting all giddy and excited about babies, then telling me how smart it is to wait!? Im not at all offended by the question... its just a bit odd.. Oh and my MIL and I work at the same place so I happen to be walking around work one day and was talking to a co worker and said "I have to go tell her" (not in an exciting way either)... some guy walking by goes... "oh are you pregnant!?"... i guess i am only allowed to tell someone im pregnant... otherwise im not allowed to tell anything! haha btw... i would never tell my mil i was pregnant at work!
  • I was having terrible abdomen pains last week, so after I went to see a doctor who then told me to get a ultrasound, EVERYONE freaked out that I was pregnant. Geez people! Ultrasound doesn't always = pregnancy!
