Cruising into the New Year
Ok, sorry for the corny title. DH got me a cruise for X-mas because, well, I have never been on one. He got me a gift certificate for Royal Carribean and said I can pick whatever I want. I want to go for about a week and am thinking Western Carribean, Mexico, or Brazil. There are also SO many ships to choose from. Any cruise experts know where I should begin?
Re: Cruising into the New Year
I've only ever been on 1 cruise and it was Carnival so I'm not really any help. Our stops were Nassau, Bahamas, St Thomas, and St Maarten. It was great but the Bahamas were dirty and dangerous at the cruise port (although I've heard really good things about other parts), St. Thomas was my favorite, and St Maarten was also really nice. I've heard RC is a better cruise line for adults. DH really wants to go on another one and I think we will do RC if we go again.
One bit of advice, alcohol on board is crazy expensive, you may want to pack a bottle, they claim they check but we did it without any problems. Our onboard bill was about $700 after a week and we aren't heavy drinkers or anything.

Married
I have been on two. One Carnival and one Royal Caribbean. I much preferred the Royal Caribbean. I thought it was cleaner and the decor was more muted. Carnival's was insane; it was so bright and gaudy. We went to Coco Cay and Nassau. I swear there was another stop, but I can not remember it for the life of me. Coco Cay was amazing, it is Royal Caribbean's private island. It is small, but lots of activities. I thought Nassau was nice. We shopped, ate at Senor Frogs, and then went to the beach for the afternoon.
Like hawkilady said, drinks other than water, tea, lemonade, and maybe a few other things, are not included. We purchased a pop card, so that cut down on the cost of drinks.
We are planning on going on a cruise later this year, so you will have to let me know how your trip goes!
