and to utter shock and surprise, my managers and my entire office was completely thrilled! I'm such a worrier by nature--a true Virgo--and although I've been at my job three years, I've just been worried about their reactions, office gossip, etc. I think because I work with mostly women and many are much older, and had babies later in life at almost 40, and I'm 26. So, I thought that there might be reactions similar to "what about your career, etc.?"
But, then I realized I'm over that because for one, I choose to be a working mom, and secondly, my job is certainly not my life, thus for me, it shouldn't control my choices like when I want to start a family, otherwise it's not the right job for me.
But, they just squealed with delight, like they're already planning a shower on my last day. It was such a relief, but reminded me to stop worrying about every detail and how it will work out. If anything, I'm hoping motherhood will mellow me out, just a bit!
Re: Broke the bump news at work...
that's great that everyone is thrilled for you! and they should be, but i'm sure that their supportive reaction was a moment of happiness and relief for you.
and as someone who had a working mom, i think that it's great you want to keep working. when i was little she worked at a very family-friendly company so i got to go to work with her sometimes, attend events with her colleagues and their kids. we always had a mother-daughter night each week so i think i ultimately had more quality time with my mom than my friends whose moms stayed home or my cousins when my aunt worked from home. even my grandmother worked once my youngest uncle was born and i remember going to work with her a few times too. she has always said she found the term "working mother" to be a little redundant
Hey Ms.Wifey!!
I know you must have been glad that they were so happy for you! Any pics to share yet? Are you starting to have a bump?
You gotta share how your mom took the news. I think my mom would maybe pass out from screaming. She is soooo ready to be a grandma and I am her only hope! LOL

Hey Lawby--
I'm actually planning on uploading some pics this week. I've got somewhat of a growing baby bump! As for my mom, she is so overjoyed she's not only begun shopping for baby stuff, but she's planning on sending off things in shifts! As her only child, her dream has come true.
I bet your mom and family back home are just waiting for you and DH! You'll be surprised how much of that love (although far away), will seem to reach you when you need it most
