AC hotel recs for a NNJ gal?

I'm planning to take my hubs there for his bday in February, but I haven't been in YEARS and don't know what's a nice place to stay/eat/play anymore.  Borgata is one possibility, but where have you been that is NICE (not divey!) for playing and staying?

THANKS!

Linda

  • Personally I like Tropicana. Not as uptight of an atmosphere and fun bars and nice restaurants.

  • I like the Borgata and also The Chelsea.  My husband and I stayed there last year and we loved it.  Just make sure you stay in the Luxe tower, as the rooms are nicer.  There isnt a casino in it, but it is literally a 2 minute walk next door to go to the Tropicana.
  • Ditto Tropicana.  They have some good restaurants there and the rooms are decent.
  • You can't go wrong with Caesar's or Bally's - plus, they're close to everything.

The Borgata is awesome but very secluded. And I've stayed in the Chelsea (Luxe tower ONLY), and it's awesome... but as Krista mentioned, it's a non-gaming hotel, but the Tropicana is right there.

  • I'd say Caesars or the Chelsea. We stayed at the Chelsea and loved it, and like PP's said - it's a very short walk to the Trop. I actually preferred it because most of the other casinos can be a pretty long walk to the hotel section. With the Chelsea - you walk in and go right up to your room.
  • We've stayed at the Trop, Caesars (i think) and the Borgata.  Out of the three I would pick the Borgata.  I also think the Chelsea is darling but have yet to stay there.  The next time we stay overnight we will stay at the Chelsea most likely.
  • We stayed at the Trump Executive Towers right after they opened in September 08 and it was awesome. The bed was the most incredible bed I have ever slept in. We called it the "cloud bed" and I never wanted to leave it! The bathroom was all marble and had this great vanity area I want to re-create at home. We ate at the Melting Pot on the Walk which was a short cab ride and it was very romantic. Have a great time where ever you end up!!!
  • I usually just stay at the Ballys.  The rooms are pretty standard.
