I have a ton of baby stuff I want to donate. In the past I have donated tons of stuff to Goodwill, but I am getting a sort of bad vibe with Goodwill - they are picky about what they take, the employees have been a pain to deal with (like I was 9 mos pregnant and donating an entire carload of stuff and they made me haul it across their warehouse), and I've heard that Goodwill gets rid of a lot of stuff (have any of you hear this?)
Anyway - without rambling - I want to donate to a really needy cause - I have everything from baby bottles (used glass ones, and new plastic ones), to baby clothes, to formula samples. Any idea how I can maybe find a women's shelter who might want it? I totally understand they have issues with anonymous locations, so they may want to pick up - which works great for me too.. I've just never sought out a specific organization so I don't know how to do so.. any guidance on this?
Re: Donation question.. women's shelter?
If you have a YWCA, that would be a good place to call, also local churches, etc.
I know of 2 local shelters, I think they're technically for families, there are quite a lot of kids with moms, some with both parents.
One is Marillac Shelter in Albany, or Schuyler Inn in Menands. Schuyler is less organized, it's an all-volunteer effort and they also have veterans and maybe it's also a motel? But it's mostly a shelter.
