Funny how different things are here....

My mom just called me.  They're expecting 3-6 inches of snow today, which is a big deal in Cincinnati.  It hasn't started snowing yet, but my brother and sister don't have school....they closed because of the forecast!  And a friend that teaches where I used to just texted me and said the school is so chaotic because of the 2 inches they have.  :)

Re: Funny how different things are here....

  • LOL - my sister is a teacher in Charlotte, NC, and the close the schools there if there is a hint of snow in the forecast too.  And Everything shuts down -the grocery stores, gas stations, the malls, etc.  Lightweights!!

  • We lived about an 1+ outside of Cincy in Indiana and I hated it when it snowed. They never plowed, people had no clue how to drive and before hand the stores would be a mad house because people had to "stock up". We couldn't even find a decent shovel to save our souls.

  • Yes, ZoeB, that sounds about right :)  Were you in Lawrenceburg?
  • Nope, Richmond, IN. I was working for Earlham College which was great and there are times that I really miss it. But being close to family was really important so we moved.

  • When I was in Coastal Carolina 1/4" closed the roads for over a day, and closed the airport for 4 days until it melted. They didn't have a plow, and when I asked if they'd salt the runway, the ticket agent asked if it worked, b/c she'd heard of it but didn't believe it worked. Too funny what difference a few degrees of latitude make.
  • That is the ONLY thing I don't miss about Cincinnati!!  It snows there EVERY YEAR, and two flakes fall and everyone goes out and crashes their car.  Come on!!

Cincinnati is also the only places I've lived where traffic backs up because it's SUNNY out, but that's a whole other story!!
