Apparently a little further along that I had thought...I have a new EDD of 01.30.10. My doc will induce after that date due to my GD. So please send vibes that Libby comes on her own before that! Today she measured 6 lbs. 3 oz. I declined the internal so I'll have one next week to see where I am at.

Feeling HUGE! Getting excited about meeting our daughter soon. J was absolutely giddy after my appointment today...it like hit him all of the sudden that Libby will be here soon. Too cute.
The car seat is now installed and we've started packing our hospital bag.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Weekly non-stress test tomorrow plus we'll also meet with our doula to review our birth plan. I'll meet with my OB next Wednesday for my 37 week appt. and have an internal to check for any progress.

I have divorced parents as does DH. So we both came from blended families. Me? One twin brother and one younger half-brother...we grew up together with my mom. My dad remarried and his wife has two children the same age as me and my twin brother. In recent years, my dad and step-mom have adopted three kids (the eldest is 15)...a girl and two boys.
DH has an older half brother, a younger half sister and one older step-brother. He grew up with his younger half sister.
I'd like to have two kids and then maybe someday adopt. DH is willing to try for three bio kids if baby #2 is a girl. I am not convinced though...I am getting too old to think about TWO more pregnancies. I told him he gets ONE more and whatever it yields (boy or girl or maybe twins...) that's it! Plus, as a parent, I think it's best not to be out numbered!
(5) Which carseat are you using (or planning to use)? What influenced your decision to choose that one?
We've got the Graco SnugRide 32 in Zurich. I chose it because it's highly rated for the price range and allows for a slightly larger baby than other infant seats. I also like that it can work in the Snap 'n' Go stroller frame (which I got used for $30). We chose Zurich because it's gender neutral (brown and green).
(6) Will/Did your DH watch your baby being born from "down there?" Why or why not?
DH wants to watch and I don't care. He's mature enough not to be freaked out by it. If I end up with a c-section, I've asked him to stay up by my head until the baby is out.

Eh. Honestly I have not been that into it. I have been too nauseas or too tired and now, just too darn big and uncomfortable. We've MAYBE done it once every 4 weeks or so. Some of that has been logistics too with all the traveling I did until the third tri. Bless his heart he thinks I am still sexy. I do enjoy our cuddle time still.
(8) Sexy time after baby comes...same as before or ??? Explain. Also, what are you using for BC?
Not sure yet. DH is already talking about it...6 weeks! I am like, hello, that's not that long...and really? I will be exhausted. And with all of the breast feeding I am sure I will not be feeling that part of myself is also for sexy time. We shall see. I am trying to keep an open mind about it all since I know nurturing our couple time is important. As for BC, I think we'll do condoms because I don't want to go back on the pill (he doesn't want me to either) and then maybe try natural family planning with charting. We shall see. I am curious to see what the new mommies here are using. Once I am done with pregnancy #2 I plan to get my tubes tied.

Went to the dr. for a follow up H1N1 shot. She weighed 21.10 lbs at 7 months (up about a pound from our 6 month checkup). Will go back to pedi. at 9 months

DH and I both grew up with one sibling (me-- older brother; Vance-- younger sister)
We'd like to have one more, regardless of the sex.

Honestly, I do not get much time for myself... getting a shower is good "me" time, though I hardly get that! I don't mind it too much, though there are times when I really feel like I need a break.

Feeling good, but tired! Our BIG milestone is that she ROLLED OVER on New Year's Day. So... We dropped the Miracle Blanket swaddle cold turkey and have been dealing with a baby who now sleeps on her side or tummy and wakes up when she ends up on her tummy and doesn't know what to do. Arg! 3 girls in my family of which I am the oldest. We are all 3 years apart but my middle sister is adopted from Korea. My youngest was a surprise. DH has one sister, three years older. His parents divorced and both remarried, so he's also got a stepbrother and stepsister on one side and 3 stepbrothers on the other side.

We have the Peg Perego car seat in Mocha. I chose it for it's high safety rating and the side impact protection. Also, it looks nice. In retrospect, I think the Graco would have been just fine and it's cheaper. (6) Will/Did your DH watch your baby being born from "down there?" Why or why not?

If you are PG, I strongly recommend getting all you can now! Because now that we have a baby I am too tired and it hurts (WHY does it hurt? Remember, I had a c-section! Wait.. I thought getting a daily shower, washing my hair and doing make-up meant I was ahead of the curve?! Trust me, a shower EACH DAY is a LOT! I have gotten one mani since Alexa was born. Jan 19 starts it all off, I'll have 2-3 doctor appointments per week not including the hospital tour & the birthing class. That will keep me busy!

I grew up as an only child, which sucks- please listen to me ladies when I tell you that being an only child SUCKS. Don't do that to your kids! DH grew up w/ 3 siblings. We want at least 2, maybe even three.

Every few weeks I muster up enough energy to do it. It's for him, I would be fine without it for a long time.

I've already told him it will be at least two months, maybe more before any nookie. After that, I don't know. We will use condoms during my fertile times & pull out method the rest of the time (once my cycle gets regular again). I know this is risky but I never got pregnant doing it like that before and if we did get pregnant again soon, we would honestly be REALLY happy. I've never used birth control pills and never will.

I'm 34 weeks, 4 days pregnant. Maya is 2 years, 4 mths.

Woke up cramping in same spot (lower back, right side) again. Breathed through it for 10 mins until it went away. Every morning I wake up with my right calf cramping too...i'm allll about the cramps now lol. Thinking I should stay better hydrated.
Walking around is getting more lumbersome and hard, due to the problems I had at the beginning of the year with my pelvis (Osteitus pubis). I got it treated and solved but pregnancy has flared it up again. So, will see the guy who treated it after bubby is born.
Another reason why I think I'm struggling with this pregnancy is because my normal weight is 60-65 kg's. I was a littler heavier when I fell pregnant this time around (76 kgs) and I have piled on the weight. I'm sitting at 97 kg's now (!!!).
I put on the same amount of weight with Maya but I started off that pregnancy lighter..
So, I'm carrying around at least 32 more kg's (70.4 lbs) above my normal weight. When I'm carrying Maya (who is 13 kg's) in my arms, I am carrying a grand total of 45 more kg's (99 lbs) than my body is used to! Yowzer.

Next appointment in two weeks. I finally picked up my ultrasound from my GP yesterday and saw in the report that it had "incidentally noted (insert difficult sounding medical terminology here) on maternal right kidney. Most likely not of current clinical significance" on it.
Googled the terminology to find that it meant a 'benign tumor'. I am annoyed at my GP as this is not the first time he has been sent back my results and hasn't even bothered opening them up to look at them, let alone call me in to discuss anything unusual found. Time to change GP's.
Will discuss with Ob at next appointment though.
Had an appointment yesterday and bub (who WAS head down at the last app) is now sitting transverse (sideways). After the appointment, I could feel him/her moving back to headdown position, I think...the little scoundrel!

I have two sisters (I'm the eldest). My parents are divorced and my dad has a girl and a boy so I have two half siblings. The massive age difference (I'm 35, they're 10 and 8) makes me feel more like their aunt though.
I feel that, if we stop at 2 then I will always feel like one is missing...strange but true lol. BUT, we'll see. Two might very well be enough, done & duested, hang-up-the-baby-makin-shoes' for us too...

We're going to use Maya's car seat for bub #2 (Safe N Sound Summit, just off the top of my head) and we're upgrading Maya to a Safe N Sound Maxi Rider, which suits toddlers and kids up to the age of 7.

Josh 'caught' Maya. He was the first person to touch her and hold her, which is special to us. He jokingly asked the midwife, right before Maya came out, if he could put on his hockey mask and a catchers glove for the task.
I laughed later.
This one, we're gonna try and get him to do the same. We're not in a birth centre this time (the one we were in with Maya closed down, BOO!) so it will really depend on the midwife in charge at the time.
Then again, I plan to be in the bath after I'm 7 cm's dilated so maybe I'll rebel against hospital 'policy' that states no water births and refuse to get out of the bath and just have the baby in there lol. A lot of midwives don't like hospital policy, even though they have to follow it so a lot of them would probably be like "Well....I TRIED to get her out but she outright REFUSED, that naughty girl!" in mock frustration.

LOL! Well after the 6 weeks out-of-commission time, it's certainly going to be interesting with a toddler and a newborn. I'm hoping this time around, I won't be as bowled over on my ass and drowning in hormone soup (with a dash of post natal). Also hoping this bub is more easy going too. So.....maybbbbbeeeee we might not go through the Great Sahara of No Sex...maybeeee this time it will only be The Great Sandpit of No Sex.
BC will probably be mini pill. I hate condoms.

Oh that reminded me. I gotta book in for a pregnancy massage that Josh got me as a b'day present last August.
In the beginning with Maya, yes, a shower and make-up done was a challenge. I made sure I did it though, come hell or high water, as it made me feel a teeny tiny bit more human and 'put together',
Now, once in a blue moon I will get my hair done, or a massage (once a year lol). I have the time, we just don't have the money for it.

I grew up with one sister (actually a half sister) and my "real" dad also has 2 children (so 1 more half sister and a half brother). Unfortuntately I'm not that close to those 2.
MH has 2 sisters. One is 1 year younger than him and one is 12 years younger.
We have always discussed 2-3 children and joke about more, but I doubt that will happen, I don't want to worry about a huge house, car, etc not to mention college funds and vacations for a family of more than 5.
(5) Which carseat are you using (or planning to use)? What influenced your decision to choose that one? First Years True Fit Convertible. My more is less way of life couldn't handle the idea of needing a new car seat in a year (or much less) so I only looked at convertibles that do actually work for infant age. This one gets good reviews (both by safety tests and actual consumers) and it's not that expensive. I'm not worried about not being able to remove the entire seat from the car, I know a couple of people that used this one in real life and their child was just fine with it ::tired of people looking at me like I have 3 heads for not buying the baby an infant seat::

I will probably want to see the head with a mirror at some point but I really doubt DH will be that interested - especially since he's taking his role as support person really seriously. The photo albums of birth from our original MW office kind of freaked him out (like he thought if I had a tub and wanted a water birth I would want him in it for the birth, ummm, probably not... for many reasons).

I'm good. Passed my GD test and now starting to see the OB every 2 weeks. Next ultrasound is in 4 weeks and I can't wait! We're also off on our babymoon tomorrow and I'm realizing that I only have about 7 more weeks of work left. Crazy.

I have no full siblings, but 2 half sisters and a bunch of nieces who are like my little sisters. DH is an only child. We definitely want 2, hope for 3, and would be so so happy if we could seriously consider adoption one day. One of my sisters was adopted, so it'd be pretty awesome if we could do it too.

Don't know the exact brand since we don't have it yet... our good friends are giving us the brand new infant one one their baby just outgrew. I wouldn't have bought an infant-specific one, so it's nice that we'll have that as an option before using the convertible. I have my eye on the Britex Marathon (good reviews on Amazon and Baby Bargains) and am so bummed that I didn't buy it when it was killer cheap a few months ago.

Not sure. I'd welcome it if he did.... must be amazingly cool to watch your baby enter this world. My only request is that he not leave me and rush with the masses to the baby when it's born. I am worried about feeling alone and left behind once the LO arrives, and I'm really counting on his support.

Very minimally in the first tri because I was spotting. Better since then, but I think we're both still psyched out by our earlier experiences and it's kind of scary. I also don't feel all that comfortable moving around in those ways with the growing belly... not because I don't feel sexy, but because it's just so heavy!

That's def the plan, but like pps have said -- I'm sure new moms are constantly exhausted. I think it's a priority for us to be the same as before, or better, especially if we soon have another one and then have to go through a drought again. No idea about BC... but DH really wouldn't be disappointed if we got pregnant again soon after.
Don't worry. I am totally with you on this! The only reason we'll be using an infant seat is because our good friends are giving us theirs and it's seriously brand new... it was outgrown so quickly. (And using it gives me more time to wait for a good deal on my convertible!) I look forward to mainly carrying the baby in a sling or wrap, so I'll have to make a conscious effort not to rely on the portable seat/carrier too much.

Jaylee cut her 2nd tooth over Christmas Break and it is making the breast feeding just a little harder oh and we started giving her baby mum-mums and it's too funny to watch her eat them

We got the travel system as a gift from family. The Key Fit 30 is high in safety ratings and it goes up to a higher weight/height limit then most other infant carseats. Although Jaylee is slowly outgrowing it. She was 27 1/2 in. at her last check up so we have started looking a convertable carseat and the Britaxs marathon is looking pretty good.

*Plus DH has a heart condition and has to take some medication where some of the side effects are sleepyness. So I'm lucky if he even stays up after Jaylee has gone down...We're using the mini pill for BC

I try and make time for myself, but just getting a shower is good enough, I hardly have enough time to get myself presentable to go to work in the morning, some eyeliner and mascara is all that makes it on my face in the AM. But for Christmas DH and Jaylee got me a spa pacakage so I am hoping ot use that soon to pamper myself..

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling...big. LOL - things have gotten so much harder just in the last week! I feel so awkward and huge.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Jan 19 - just a checkup.
(4) How many kids in your family growing up? How about DH? How many would you two like to have? 3 kids in my family, 3 in DH's (although he was an "oops!" baby and his sisters are 7 and 11 years older than him, so he kind of grew up as a single child once he hit middle school). We agreed on two kids, with an option for three - but honestly, I kind of doubt whether we'll end up using the option lol. I tend to think that not having more kids than I have hands is a good plan.
Also, growing up with 5 people in a household (my parents were divorced but my Nana lived with us) was a big PITA when it came to anything pre-packaged. NOTHING comes in packs of 5! It's all 4 or 6. I know that might seem stupid, but since I was one of the two youngest, it meant that I always had to split any kind of special treat (which we seldom got) with my little brother, which really annoyed me lol. Sometimes you just want your own doughnut!
(5) Which carseat are you using (or planning to use)? What influenced your decision to choose that one? Good question. Like everything else, carseats are crazy expensive here. I'm currently tossing up between a pricey one and a cheaper one. The cheaper one is highly rated on the RTA's website for safety (he RTA aka the MVR is the Aussie version of the DMV), but for some reason when you read forums everyone says not to get that brand, that they wouldn't trust it. I'm not sure why, aside from some vague sense of "it's too cheap to be good"? *sigh* I just don't know.
(6) Will/Did your DH watch your baby being born from "down there?" Why or why not? Mmmmm. We're in negotiations about this. He wants to catch the babies, if possible. I'd kind of prefer him not to - I know I may not care at the time, but for some reason I feel REALLY odd about him seeing my hoohaw in that state. So we'll see.
(7) Sexy time while PG....yay or nay? Explain. *sigh* I so want to say yay. So, SO want to say it. I wish I was one of those women who got all crazy horny while pregnant, but honestly, I'm not. I'm exhausted and awkward, and I couldn't feel any less sexy if I tried. We still do the deed, but it's dropped down to like once every week or two. I feel really bad for Ben that it's not more often, but neither of us wants me to force it if I don't feel like it, you know?

I'm thinking of trying out a non-hormonal IUD for BC...I've had problems with every kind of hormonal BC I've used (mood swings, weight gain, etc.), so I'm thinking of giving non-hormonal a shot.

Next appt is next week...I'm going weekly now. Had a surprise u/s today b/c doc wanted to make sure baby was head down. She is! Yay! Doc says it's "jammed" in there and not going anywhere. I hope she's right! Also, she's measuring almost 6 lbs already by u/s. YIKES. I was hoping she'd only be 6-7 lbs at birth. Wishful thinking, I guess. My girl cousins all had big babies so I guess I'm joining the club.

I'm an only, which I didn't think sucked until my mom & grandpa passed away (I was also the only grandchild on my mom's side). But as a kid, I never wished for a sibling, as far as I can recall. B has an older brother. We haven't decided yet if we'll have another, but I would like one more. Not more than 2, though.

Graco Snugride. It gets good ratings and it was on sale so we bought it. Just hoping she doesn't outgrow it too quickly since we didn't get the 32.

He's staying up by my head. Pretty sure anyways. He's a bit squeamish. I've seen enough births that I don't need to see my own lady parts in that state.

Umm...ouch. Feels like it's my first time every time. But you better bet I'm gonna suck it up starting at 38 weeks to try to help things along.

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
I'm feeling.....tired mostly. My nausea has subsided slightly in the past week. I have been able to eat meat again, in small amounts. The nausea has changed over to backaches, though, unfortunately.
We went to the OB on Monday for a routine appt. and to hear the heartbeat, but she couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler. I wasn't too nervous, since I know this is common this early (and I certainly have enough padding to get through!) The cool part was that she broke out the ultrasound then, so we got to see him/her again, even though that wasn't originally planned for the appt. The heartbeat was fine, the Dr. just said that it is at the back of uterus, therefore, hard to hear this early.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
We have the nuchal translucency ultrasound test next Friday....I'm a little nervous!

I am the youngest of three, but I now also have two younger step-siblings. MH is an only child. We definitely want more than one....I don't like the idea of only children, personally! We agreed on two for sure, maybe three (I'd like three, but he needs convincing!). Of course, with the way twins run in my family, he may not have a choice!

Haven't decided for certain yet, but we did go shopping last week to just look at a few things, carseat being one of them. We both liked the Graco Snugride 32 in Lemongrass. We also both really love the Uppababy stroller, and the Graco is compatible with that.

Hell no!!! He's a doctor, and has delivered several babies himself. But I told him no way! I need him there as a support to me as his wife, and I think that if he were down there, he's go into doctor mode, and see me more as a patient. It's funny, my family all assumed we'd have the baby at home with him delivering it. I laughed and told them that he's not allowed past my shoulders! And while I respect the decision of those who want a home birth, I have every intention of being in the hospital.

So far, about once a week. I'm too tired the rest of the time! I fall asleep way before he comes to bed these days. Plus, my nausea is mostly in the evenings. We can make it work in the morning on weekends, though!

Who knows? We'll see, I guess. I have no plan for that yet. I'd hope for going back to normal, though (after a few months, of course)! That may be optimistic, though, as I'm sure I'm be exhausted as a working mom.
As far a BC goes, I don't know, but I doubt I'll go back on the pill again. I might look into an IUD.
This my plan too. I wanted to not get the infant seat but my mom and DH wanted it. And since I'll be back to work, I needed to consider their desires since they'll have Libby when I am at work. I plan to wear her though and not just carry her around in "the bucket", which I call those infant seats. Not to mention the thing is heavy and not ergonomically engineered at all!

Feeling fine. Had the ultrasound and they found a cyst on my right ovary, but not on my left, which is where the pain is.
No real milestones. DS laughs in his sleep, which I think is hilarious, because he hasn't done it when awake yet!

He wasn't planning on it - he was going to go with the "elbow rule" - no going below my elbows - but he ended up holding my other leg and seeing EVERYTHING - and then I ended up with a c-s b/c he wouldn't come out. The "sheet" for the c-s was more like a hand towel - so he got to see everything there too. Apparently it's more involved than the tape we watched from birthing class - maybe b/c he was stuck in my birth canal, but apparently there were several organs out of my body and on my chest!

I'm lucky if I get a shower everyday. Seems like we do better if something is planned for the day, then we both get showers. Otherwise, we hang in jammies most of the day.
yes, definitely important to take their opinions into account! It especially makes sense when you have to use different cars (like I bet your mom will also be driving the baby sometimes too?).
Although at some point both of our cars will need a seat. For now we usually just drive my car because it's more fuel efficient, newer, and MH's jeep has a leak (lets in rain) that we don't feel like finding or fixing so it often stinks pretty bad - gross, I know. So we are only getting one True Fit and then plan to pick up another one (or maybe another brand) whenever we get MH a new car or at some point if we start using his car more for a family car.

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Ashton is AMAZING. We flew to MD over the holidays and he didn't cry once. He slept the entire time and was the best baby. He also did amazing with all the dinners, late nights we had. He seems to be a very social baby which is why I am starting to research what we can do here on Oahu so that he around more babies, etc.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Ashon won't have another Dr. appt until he is 6 months old, but at his 4 month well baby check up, he was 18.1lbs!! Big ole boy!

I picked that one based on Baby Bargains reviews, the length of time Ashton can use it and for comfort reasons. A few of my friends have the Gracco and it doesn't seem as padded as the Key Fit.
(6) Will/Did your DH watch your baby being born from "down there?" Why or why not? Yes, DH did watch while I was pushing as did my mama..lol! Once the moment is happening, I didn't care who watched to be honest. He was in the OR during the c-section and watched that as well. Nothing changed in terms of him finding me sexy

now that she is STTN I am feeling much more rested, though I still get worn out taking care of her during the day. she is really needy and likes to be held a lot so I still can't get tons done. I have worn her in my maya wrap a few times and in those cases it's nice to have two hands, but she usually falls asleep in it quickly and will nap at most an hour in it before waking and wanting to get out of it. I'm hoping w/more time she will enjoy being awake in it so I can do more.

we both have one other sibling and plan to have 2 kids as well. before having A, I told DH that i would have #3 if #2 was a girl (he really wants a boy to carry on the family name) but now I think I've changed my mind and will only go through 2 pregnancies max. if he really wants that boy and #2 is a girl then we can adopt a boy

we have the chicco keyfit based on reviews in baby bargains. we have the "adventure" b/c the colors are gender neutral so we can use them for LO#2. i had considered the graco one but all the ones with front adjusting harnesses were $100+ and I found the chicco keyfit for $120 so we just went ahead and got that one instead

we hadn't planned on him watching b/c he's "been there, done that" in the hospital when he was a med student and didn't care to see me like that down there...but he had to hold my other leg up and when the nurse got tired, he had to pull the bed sheet we were using so he kind of had to look at times. during the c-section I had no idea what was going on but apparently he peeked around the "curtain" as well...he said that after they had pulled A out, they pulled my uterus out and layed in on top of my abdomen to inspect it and he could see everything (ick!)

haven't yet... i booked my post partum appt w/the ob late so it won't be until 10 wks pp instead of 6 wks pp so i haven't gotten the ok yet... even if we had her approval i have been pretty tired and not really in the mood. as life normalizes, i will probably feel more up to it.
we talked about it and i probably won't go back on BC for now. i've heard that the hormonal changes of PG sometimes "fix" fertility problems for some women but i'm guessing i won't be one of them. so we don't really need BC and if by chance we happen to get PG then we'll be really happy about it
otherwise, when it comes time to TTC for #2 we'll be going back to the doctor.

not yet really, though i do plan to try to make more time for myself. like others said, i consider it a good day when i can brush my teeth twice and get a shower in. most days i only get around to brushing my teeth once and i don't always get to shower. i must say, though, that i have a new-found love for hot showers... they're a great escape and i love to sit under the hot running water forever. it's soooo hard to get out of the shower these days... i've gone from taking 5 min showers to taking 15-20 min showers now
i've never been a mani/pedi kind of girl, not how i'd like to spend my money...but i do like to pamper myself with an occasional massage. DH got me a massage for christmas and i loved it!!

I finally broke down and bought new bras WOW it feels good to wear a bra that fits. I had been squeezing them into my old ones trying to put off buying as long as possible but with the VS sale I decided to go ahead a buy a few to get by and it is an amazing feeling:)
