*ahem* Did anyone else notice EyeHeartMike is here?
She replied to my Gannon's post below (after I nagged her about it).
And don't we all miss her and hope that she posts here more? I do!
Re: *ahem* Did anyone else notice EyeHeartMike is here?
Hahaha what is there not enough TMI or fitness talk around here? Do I need to come and shake you ladies up and kick your butts?!
Ok ok I'll try and check in here more, I have missed you guys but for awhile it was there was so much baby talk I had to go on hiatus. Not that I'm not happy for all you wonderful ladies who are expecting or hoping to, it's just not in the cards for me.
Now who has dish to share?! I'm currently obsessed with trying to figure out which eReader to buy since now that I'm graduated I read constantly. About vampire....and sex....its hot.
Ooooooh - what vampire and sex books are you reading?
Congratulations on graduating!
Married Bio
I just got a Kindle for Christmas, and LOVE it so far. Though, I have nothing to compare it to, so I don't know if anything else is better.
Oooo vampire and sex books, where to begin! Here are the series I've read since I graduated:
1) Southern Vampire (Sookie Stackhouse) by Charlaine Harris
2) Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward
3) Dark/Dream Hunter by Sherilyn Kenyon
#2 and #3 have A LOT of books in the series so they keep you busy for quite some time, they are erotic, exciting and thrilling. I get sad everytime I come to the last book of a series, I feel like I'm missing my friends.
Next up I'm going to read:
1) Midnight Breed/Lara Adrian (6 books/5stars) On my list of series after that are: 2) Immortals After Dark/Kresley Cole (8 books/4.5 stars) 3) The Maker's Song/Adrian Phoenix (3 books/5 stars) 4) Vampire Babylon/Chris Marie Green (5 books/4 stars) 5) House of Night/PC Cast (6 books/4.5 stars) 6) Guild Hunter/Nalini Singh (1 book/5stars) 7) Parasol Protectorate/Gail Carriger (1 book/5 stars) 8) Blood Lines/Maria Lima (3 books/4 stars)There is CLEARLY not enough TMI or fitness talk around here!
(Although TMI MauidAims has been popping in from time to time. And KShiz was leading a daily food journal thing a while back. I was into the daily calorie counting for a while because I was getting ready for something where I had to be in a swimsuit in front of lots of people...I don't even remember what now).
But, I am way off the fitness/healthy eating wagon these days. Isn't this week the week I'm supposed to vow to exercise regularly from now until eternity? It hasn't registered in my brain that it's a new year, I guess. Annasan and SanHawaii ran half-marathons a few month ago...and Sachiko never posts here anymore, but I see her on FB always posting about running millions of miles. It used to inspire me, but now it just makes me feel guilty.
So yes! Butt-kicking is needed!
Dang! Thanks for all of those suggestions! I've been meaning to pick up the Southern Vampire series. I can't wait to read about vampires and sex in the same book -- I can't TELL you how frustrating it was to read through 3.5 books of the Twilight series with no sex! (And then once they FINALLY did it, it was a "fade to black" scene. Ugh! SO unsatisfying!)
I heart Sookie, but the sex is not nearly as graphic as Black Dagger or Dark Hunters. I only have TWO books left in Dark Hunter, I'm sooooo sad. At least she is still writing them I just have to wait till June/August.
So fitness - yes everyone who has vowed to work out for NY is at my gym. At the same time. Crowding me. I can't wait till Feb :P
My NY resolution is to do a figure competition in July. Training started officially this week. For now I just need to work on getting my muscle size right (mostly my shoulders and biceps cause I hurt my shoulder over the summer and couldn't exercise that muscle for like 4 months) and some calves. Then six weeks out, its cutting down to melt the fat off. That will suck but I can't imagine how cool it will be to accomplish that!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm going to check out the Black Dagger and Dream Hunter on Amazon right now
I read the House of Night series and it's just ok. It's for teens so it's not the level of smut I was looking for
I've just started reading the "Anita Blake Vamipre Hunter" series by Laurall K Hamilton. My friend recommended it. Two books in there is no sex... she promised me it would get better though.

yay!
I'm always jealous of your travel and working out statuses on facebook!
And congrats on graduating!
I have a kindle and love it. I can't say that I really researched the others though because I primarily use it for travel (I still regularly go to the library and borrow books from family members - I'm cheap like that!). Soooo the Kindle was the only thing I really considered because of it's wireless/cell phone connection. I didn't want to have to worry about loading it up before I go somewhere and love the fact that I can just browse and download a new book as I need them instead of having to download it through a computer. Apparently MH thought I would read every book from here on out on the Kindle and sometimes thinks I'm not getting as much use out of it as I should when he sees me read a normal book - but I just don't see it as a total replacement for an actual book when I can borrow good ones for free
YAY! Welcome back!
I'm with you on the TMI and fitness front....I love it all! I've been working out like a crazy person for the past 3 months and am in love with my strength training. I'll never be in a figure competition fo sure, but I'd love to hear about your journey!!!
I reaaaaally like the Kindle, but I also want touch screen. If Kindle would just come out with touch screen and expandable memory, I think I'd be happy. Sigh. I'm going to have to go fondle them at the store and see if they speak easy to me :P
We could definitely use some more TMI and non-baby talk around here...and that's coming from one of the knocked up ones, lol!
Also:
This is so cool! Make sure you post about how this is going - I'll be your one-woman cheerleading squad!
yay Deirdre you're back!!! there are still some of us who are not drinking the baby water (ahem the elder almost 40 year old nestie who spent the holidays partying and surfing with her hubby and the 20 something crowd yikes) thanks for the recommendations on the books-luv luv luv the vamp sex-i too am missing sookie at the moment and can't wait to watch the next season of true blood.
so cool about the fitness competition-i am certain that you will rock it!! wish i had that kind of discipline-sadly surfing takes up too much of my spare time hahahah

i replied to your other thread re ereaders. congrats on graduating!! hope you'll check in more often now
LMAO - the Anita Blake series will definitely pick up. I quit reading it because it became ALL about sex after the 10th book.
And ditto on the babies - teaching teenagers all day and dealing with their lame parents is the best birth control out there for me! The thought of procreating myself makes me shudder!

I agree! I tried to bring the TMI in this week's BR update. But yeah, we miss you D and could SO use some more not BR threads...and yes...this is coming from one who's about to give birth any day now.
My fitness goals for 2010 are to lose at least 60 lbs...hopefully more. I've done great with not packing it on while pregnant and I pray that delivery and breast-feeding will jump start the lbs. dropping off. But my goal is also to walk at least 45-60 minutes/day, strength training at least 20-30 minutes/3x week and start yoga.
