Does anyone have a steam mop?

Do you like it?  I was thinking of  getting one with my Christmas money...

Re: Does anyone have a steam mop?

  • We have the Deluxe Shark Steam Mop ($119.99 at BBB) and LOVE it! It's awesome because the head flips over so you can use both sides of the microfiber to clean and it comes with all these attachments to get into corners and an attachment to put over top of the microfiber so that the carpet can be steam cleaned.

We also have the Shark Steamer (hand held - for cleaning furniture, shower stalls, etc.) and it rocks. We've had nothing but good experiences with Shark - they actually steam (you can see the steam) and the floor really feels clean after you steam it (we tried Mr. Clean beforehand and the tile floor got slippery!).

Before we had the Shark Mop, we had a Bissell (Home Depot for $89.98 down here in FL) - it stunk. You couldn't see the steam coming out, the floor was still cold after you "cleaned" it and it leaked water. I definately DON'T recommend the Bissell one.

Make sure you use a 20% coupon at BBB when you buy one :-) (you know the coupons never expire from there, right? I have them stockpiled, so let me know if you need one and I'll be more than happy to mail one!)

  • Are you referring to the shark h2o thingy? =) If so, yes, i have one and love it!  The water gets super hot and the microfiber pads that come with it are machine washable.  I love this over the swifter because it's been my experience that the floors are left with a sticky feeling with the swifter and I hate that.  I bought my shark steam mop from Lowe's for around $100.

  • Thanks for the review... that was one of the ones that I was really interested in.  (I also have the coupons stockpiled ;)   I did hear that starting in March they will no longer accept expired coupons... hope I heard wrong ).

  • I have the Bissell Deluxe Steam Mop (this one) and LOVE it.  The first time I cleaned our floors with it, I really noticed a difference in how shiny the floors were... and it's been great ever since.  I've been trying to get away from using so many chemicals in my cleaning supplies, between the dogs (who get into EVERYTHING, and usually shortly after I've cleaned it) and now the baby on the way - this really fit the bill for those needs, and it works wonderfully, to boot.  DH did a decent bit of research before we bought this one, trying to decide between the Bissell and the Shark, and seemed to consistently come up with the Bissell performing better over time, although I can't attest to that since I've only had mine a few months.

In any event, really easy to use, and the fact that all you need to do are wash the pads and it's ready to go for the next time make it great in my book!

  • I'm late responding but I used to have the Deluxe Shark steam mop but it suddenly died last month so DH replaced it with their new Steam Pocket Mop and I love it even more than I loved my Deluxe regular one.  I like that you can use both sides of the mop head and that there are different sized mop heads for different areas.  I like that it doesn't dump a ton of water on the floors either because I know from reading reviews of other steam mops that can be a problem.

I use it on our tile, hw, and vinyl with no problems.

  • We also have the Shark pocket steam mop and love it.  The pocket version covered all of the negatives (in reviews) of the regular one.

  • I have the shark steam mop, an older model, and I still love it.  Much better than the swiffer, IMO.  The swiffer would make our floors sticky.  BBB did state that they weren't going to accept expired coupons anymore.  However, my mom stockpiles their coupons and has not had a problem using expired ones yet!

  • I am very late in responding, but I have the Haan Light floor steamer.  I purchased mine from qvc.  I LOVE it. I had a shark and didn't like it so much, but this one is so easy to use.
