DD who has struggled with sitting up on her own (you can put her into the sitting position and she sits fine) has only managed to do it a couple of times and the whole crawling thing has been a struggle. She is a bum scooter. Last night she cracked the code. She cracked the code at bedtime. She was trying to reach for the mobile and the she sat up. Like she knew what she was doing and this was a piece of cake. Well I applauded her because I was surprised. Then I put her back on her back. Two seconds later she was sitting up and clapping and hooraying herself. DH came in and said "what's all the commotion?" So I put her on her back. ANd then she rolled onto her tummy ( I barely had released her and she was on her way) and she sat up. Then she leaned over got on all fours and started crawling laps around her crib. They were a little unsteady. She didn't look as practiced as she did when she sat up. But she is definitely VERY mobile now. Instead of a slow controlled bum scoot she had a full on crawl going.
Part of me is super proud of her. Part of me is thinking NOOOOOOO I have a show to do in February and three quilts to make!
All this amounted to, she went to bed late anyways and then was so impressed with herself she spent an hour lying down and sitting up, doing a lap, and repeating the process. I can't be stern with my child when
1.I know she is only 9 months old and won't understand and
2. when she is laughing so hard.
I am hoping she sleeps in today and wish I had a video camera going last night.
Re: LAst night was like herding cats! It was funny
Wow, that's awesome! And so cute! You're in trouble now!
DS loves to work on learning to crawl in his crib too. So far his efforts result in him getting himself stuck in a corner or falling sideways from a pushup position and banging his head on the crib rails. I think it's contributing to his frequent nighttime waking. It's very frustrating (and exhausting) for both of us.
That's adorable - I wouldn't have been able to be stern with her either!
Have fun baby-proofing the house!
