Hi! I'm a DC area nestie, and I'll be at the Lighting Market next week. I'm a rep for one of the lighting lines, and I need to take some of my clients to dinner. I've never been to Dallas, so I'm totally lost...
I want something unique and memorable, but that will appeal to a group of 5 women, ranging in ages from 30-60. Nothing overwhelmingly fancy (I wouldn't want to do the Palm or another chain restaurant that we have in DC), but something nice and impressive, maybe bordering on trendy. I will have a car, but they will be cabbing it to meet me, and they are staying at the Hyatt on Reunion. So something close to that hotel would be good, to keep their cab fare low.
I look forward to hearing your responses! Thank you so much!
Re: Need restaurant recommendations, please!
My favorites, all in Uptown, close to where your clients are staying:
Cremona: Longest running family owned italian restaurant in Dallas. AMAZING food, decent prices, wonderful service. More of a "hole in the wall" place. Let me know if you decide to go here and I'll tell you what waiter to ask for.
S&D Oyster Company: New Orleans style, seafood, the same servers have been working there for decades. Great food, wonderful service.
Nick and Sam's Grill: Unique, trendy, decent food. Little brother to Dallas steak house, Nick and Sam's.
If you wanted to make a trip a little bit further north, maybe 5 more minutes in a cab, there is:
The Porch: Casual, but trendy, variety of american food
Victor Tangos: Trendy, not douchy. Known for their cocktails. Had dinner next to Troy Aikman last time I was there. Definitely get the chicken and waffles.
Javier's: Gourmet mexican food..some of the best I've ever had. Trendy, but classic, if that makes sense.
Have fun! Dallas has some wonderful restaurants to offer. We like to try a new restaurant at lest twice a month and these are some of my favorites.
Gloria's on Greenville
The Porch on Henderson
Trying to think of somewhere fun and "texas-y."

I second Stephen Pyles. Great food (tamale tart is amazing) and upscale without being pretentious. Fearing's at the Ritz is also noteable and unique to Dallas.
