A must on your restaurant list, please.
I want to surprise dh with an amazing dinner out while there and the only criteria is the food must be amazing. As a point of reference- GJ is out, we'll be there anyway visiting a friend...and, GO!
btw- could I use amazing anymore? Ugh- I need another coffee fix.
Re: NYC girls
STK in the Meat Packing District (for Steak, um, obviously).
Ammos on Vanderbuilt outside of Grand Central Station (for Greek food).
Max Brenner in Union Square (for anything chocolate).
Baraonda (can't remember where) for Italian.
ETA: Baraonda is Meditteranean, not just Italian...
Bruxelles for French.
La Mela in Little Italy (Italian)
I echo the other Cristina's suggestion of Bruxelles. Very yummy.
Are you looking for an all around incredible experience? Do you want like well known chef type place (ie: Craft or Nobu).
Not in the city, but in Brooklyn..for steak...Peter Luger.
Babbo (110 Waverly Place) Italian. Among the most memorable meals I've ever had. Best tasting/pairing menu in town. Reservations are needed 4-6 weeks in advance for weekends.
Daniel (60 E. 65th) or Cafe Boulud (20 E. 76th) French. A little taste of Paris in NYC. We eat there so frequently, we've become acquainted with Daniel. Great sommelier and killer desserts.
Milos (125 W. 55th) Greek/Seafood. The fish is so fresh, you'd swear it was still swimming.
Dovetail (103 W. 77th) American. Gorgeous restaurant, great food, beautiful people.
Sushi of Gari (402 E. 78th) or Nobu (105 Hudson St) Japanese. Try Sushi of Gari if you're a sushi fiend (order omakase), but you'll have to ignore the very sparse decor. Nobu has better cooked options and is more of a scene.
Mercadito (179 Ave B bet 11/12th) Mexican. I would eat here every day if I could. Delicious guacamole tastings and super creative margaritas. Yummy.
So, is there time in this fab weekend for us gals to grab a drink? Cristina, I'm sure you've become quite the connoisseur of mocktails since the last time I saw you...
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.
One&Only Palmilla - Los Cabos, Mexico
YES.
I'd forgotten this. Worth the venture to Brooklyn.

One&Only Palmilla - Los Cabos, Mexico
Thanks for the suggestions!
I'll check into them all- though it's hard being quite spoiled around these parts..no sushi unless it's lunch though. We have a fab sushi connection here that a friend hooked us up with N of the city and dh uses as a supplier so we get our fill there.
I know my SS wasn't overly impressed with Nobu or STK foodwise..and, it's hard for me to decide on a meal that will leave us both impressed...this could be tricky..
I'm also fairly certain I'll be able to squeeze in a drink or 3!
limoncello......... drooooooolllllll........
And yes, we're MEETING up for sure.
And, Ro, I even bought myself a non-alchi cocktails book :::hangs head in shame:::
Okay I want in on this GTG!!
Perilla : Don't know if you're a Top Chef fan, but this is Harold's restuarant (the winner of season one) You have to try the spicy duck meatballs. yuumm They also do a great brunch
Les Halles: This is Anthony Bourdain's restaurant. It's very good but nothing fancy smancy, just really good steaks and (this may sound weird) out of this world french fries. It may not work for a blow your mind kind of meal, but worth a try for a different occasion.
ps- yea my links don't work bc i suck so i took them out
Luger's is cash only and you need to call now for reservations. The view is fabulous as you are looking at Manhattan.
I don't know that it is the "wow" experience that you are looking for though.
I did a tasting menu there a couple years ago. The food was really good, but it sat a little heavy in my stomach-- which is why I prefer Daniel.

One&Only Palmilla - Los Cabos, Mexico
Good to know.
I may have to pick dh's brain on this one and spoil the surprise. We promised a friend we'd show our faces at JG so maybe I should go completely opposite!? Babbo could work as a choice. I know dh likes his philosophy/style as a whole..
