Seawatch is now "Gannon's" (PIP)

I may have missed a post about this, but it was news to me!  MH and I played the Wailea Emerald Golf course and went to the Seawatch afterward for drinks, but it had been rebranded as Gannon's.  Apparently Bev Gannon, from Celebrations Catering fame, bought the restaurant in 2009 and, after a short closing for rebranding, reopened in December 2009 as Gannon's.

I thought some of you girls who got married at the Seawatch would be interested in their new look!  Gone are the pineapple wood-backed chairs and tropical prints; Gannon chose espresso furniture and moody red lighting.

Still same fantastic view from the outdoor tables though!  Some of the outdoor tables are wood and some are solid surface with recycled glass; all have faux wicker chairs.

Re: Seawatch is now "Gannon's" (PIP)

  • interesting.  I had read about the new owner (I think from the knot board when some brides were wondering if they could still book weddings) and wondered what might be changed.

I miss the "tacky" pineapple chairs!!

  • Yeah, the "tropical" vibe is definitely gone.  I think they're trying to go for a higher-end look, a la Spago's.

I can't comment on the food, really.  (We had eaten sandwiches on the course and had early dinner reservations elsewhere).  I took a peek at their menus, however.  Lunch menu was pretty standard Hawaii golf clubhouse fare -- burgers, nachos, fish tacos, etc.  Dinner was much fancier (and pricier) -- macadamia nut-crusted fish, seared ahi tuna, etc.

  • Ohhhh I'm digging the new decor and color scheme!!! Wonder what the wedding packages will look like now and if Susan is still around.
  • Thanks for sharing the pictures.  Looks nice inside.  Yeah, those chairs needed to go.   I wonder if Susan is still there too.
  • Looks like any ol upscale or well decorated restaraunt here on the mainland now except w/ a great view. Too bad! I liked the old look much better.

I have to agree.  It looks kind of more "generic" to me now.  I prefered the tropical vibe it had...it looked so great in people's wedding pics.
