EF AND Frugal Shampoo and Conditioner

Hello Ladies,

Does anyone know of and EF AND Frugally priced shampoo or conditioner. I've tried Avalon Organics Lemon and Lavender, but they seem to leave my hair greasy (even if I only use a little) and the conditioners don't see to work. I am really loathe to spend $10 on a bottle of shampoo... I have been using Lush's bar shampoo and Green conditioner (I know not exactly EF, but not terrible) and when I ran out of conditioner I am using vinegar. (I'm avoiding parabens and dimethecone, or at least trying to...)

 Thanks!

  • I use Burt's Bees which is about $7-$8 and I cut out conditioner. My hair has compensated amazingly. I think over-producting dries out the hair. The less you use, the more your scalp can work out a balance-- at least for me. But, if that doesn't work for you, you can wash with apple cider vinegar/baking soda/no-poo.

  • I just switched to Burts Bees and like it so far.  I got a shampoo and conditioner set for $12 at Target, it wasn't the scent I really wanted but was cheaper than getting them separately.  I love the shampoo, I was trying to co wash only before switching and it wasn't working great for me.  The conditioner doesn't give my hair that slick feeling I'm used to and I feel like it is a little harder to detangle, but it isn't as bad as some that I have used.
  • i use giovanni products. you can get them at target. i no-poo so i only get the 50:50 balanced conditioner, but i like it and when i tried to switch from it i ended up going back.

  • I use baking soda and apple cider vinegar.  It took a few months before my scalp learned to produce less oils though.
  • Once I run out of what I have, I'm going to try making some with Dr. B's. I tried using it alone once, and it was way too drying. I saw a recipe online once with herbal tea and olive oil, so I'm thinking something like that.

  • I haven't tried them all yet, but check out Trader Joes - I remember someone speaking highly of one of them. And I know they are reasonably priced.

  • I'm currently using Alba; it was $7 (on sale) when I bought my first bottle, and $8 (regular price) when I bought the second.  Still way more expensive than my giant bottles of Fructis, but it's less than $10!
  • I use Nature's Gate (but be careful some of their products have SLS in them).   I buy at a local coop and they get huge jugs of the stuff and we buy by the Oz.  which makes it cheaper.  (plus we reuse the same container).  I think the shampoo is around $7.00
  • I love Kiss My Face shampoo and conditioner.  Not too expensive at all and it makes my hair feel great!  I also use Giovanni every now and then.  They are similarly priced.

  • You can get HUGE bottles of Giovanni at TJ Maxx (and sometimes Marshalls).  13.00 for a HUGE bottle!
  • I just bought the Whole Foods 365 Shampoo and Conditioner products this weekend... $5.99 each for really big bottles.  I'm trying the lavender scent (though they also have a scentless variety). So far, so good. My hair is soft, clean, and not greasy.
