I'm going to cry-vent

We went to the emergency room right before Christmas because Jay cut his hand working on a project.  It wasn't life threatening but bad enough it needed stitches.  ER visits come out of our deductible and since we haven't paid any thing into it we have to pay the whole bill.  I was expecting maybe $300-$400.  Its $1200, for stitches!  I'm so mad.  This happens every we start saving for something we want. I don't even know why I have health insurance.  Its f$@#ing ridiculous.

  • omg....I'll go stichless! lol Im sorry =(
  • See if you can set up payment arrangements with the hospital.  That would help you so you don't have to pay it all at once.  I am sorry!
  • Aww....big hugs. I know how you feel about everytime you try to dig yourself out something happens. Trust me, it will get better.
  • Oh that is awful!!  I hope those stitches are threads of gold.

    I would contact the hospital to see if you can set up a payment plan.  They are USUALLY very good about that.  So sorry. :(

  • oh.my.gosh. that is awful! i'm so sorry! :(

  • Ouch. That blows.  I am sorry,

    FWIW, DH works in a hospital and he says that unless it's like a heart attack or a broken femur or something that may require a surgery or operation, that your best bet is to go to an Urgent Care clinic.  Lots cheaper because of less overhead.  I know it's too late for that, but maybe it will help you out next time.

    ::hugs::

  • Oh honey that sucks. It always happens like that. I think it's a good idea to try to do payments. Hugs.
  • That sucks. :(

    I agree with the payment plans though.  We're doing $100 payments each month for all of DH's gall bladder stuff.  And it was so easy to set up.

    Yes! And sometimes they even give discounts if you pay everything in full OR have a high deductible  -- many are happy to get any payment that they can and if they see that you are at least trying with monthly payments they let that work
