Playoff related ?

When the Ravens make the playoffs the whole city turns purple.  Meaning all of the businesses change their exterior light bulbs to purple.  Lots of people change out the bulbs on their porches as well.  Because of a (evil) Steelers fan who is a FB friend, I'm wondering if other cities do this as well?

Re: Playoff related ?

  • It's been awhile since the Skins made the playoffs, but I'm almost positive nothing was burgundy and gold!  I think the purple makes it easier to do.

  • Not that I am aware of.....
  • Nothing I can think of for the Patriots...but for the Sox playoffs, the Prudential gives them a shout out!

  • Hmm...I don't think we do anything like that in Cincy.  But it's rare that we make the playoffs, so I'm not sure.
    Visit The Nest!
  • Yep, Chicago does it all the time when our teams are in the playoffs.  The Sears (excuse me Willis) Tower, Hancock, and some of the other larger buildings also change their lights for the holidays.  Christmas is green and red, Halloween orange, Breast Cancer Awareness pink, etc.

Some of the buildings in downtown STL do this too. Also I've seen the fountain in front of our courthouse dyed red, pink, and blue so far. By far the most used color is red for the Cardinals though.

  • I'd love for the Lions to make the playoffs to find out!  Big Smile  We have a statue downtown that they put a huge jersey on when one of the teams make the play-offs.

  • Philly does that.  Depending on the team, green for the Eagles, red for the Phils.  They also do the pink in October for breast Cancer awareness, etc.  The skyscrapers and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge are done in the color lights and the fountains (like the one at Love park) are run with that color water.
