What do you eat for Breakfast?
I know a lot of you are probably like me and never or rarely eat breakfast but I feel I am doing myself a disservice by not having a little something before I leave the house in the morning. My first coffee break at work is at 0930 and usually by then I am starving.
Re: What do you eat for Breakfast?
I have oatmeal with random fruit/nut combos every work day.
In a big pyrex bowl that has I lid, I throw...
1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup water, a tablespoon or so of toasted wheat germ, a ton of cinnamon and my fruit/nut combo of the day (I've used every nut with dried cranberries/raisins/currants, fresh berries/banana/persimmon/apple/pear, canned pumpkin, applesauce -- pretty much anything that's in the house will do)...
Then I microwave it for four minutes, throw the lid on and go to work.
After I check my voicemails and e-mails, I splash some milk on the oatmeal, warm it up for about a minute and eat it while I work.
(Like you all really wanted to hear all that!)
MY BLOG!
I try to make a big pan of egg bake every so often and then cut it up and freeze it. Then I can just nuke it while I'm in the shower. If I don't eat protein at breakfast, I am starving by lunch so I try to avoid cereal and such. If I have to eat something in a bowl - I try to hit up oatmeal (reduced sugar or else I get hungry) or Kashi Go Lean hot cereal which has tons of whole grains and isn't bad tasting and seems to hold me over. It is sad because if I don't eat breakfast, I dont' get hungry for lunch but I know that isn't good for me.
This is probably the worst thing to do, but I usually don't eat breakfast. I'd honestly rather sleep for 10 more minutes than get up to eat breakfast before leaving the house. I have tried to compromise and eat right when I get to work, but as soon as I open my e-mail at work, I'm knee-deep in it and I lose all track of time.
If I'm super hungry when I get to work and I think about it immediately, I'll have 1 pop-tart. Usually the low-fat strawberry, but sometimes cherry because it's my favorite flavor.
It's probably all in my head but the days that I do have breakfast, I seem to get hungrier for lunch faster! I can eat my pop-tart at 8:30 and be hungry for lunch by 10! I guess once my body has some food, it's ready for more! So, at least 90% of the time, I skip it. Especially this time of year when it's "busy season" in my line of work.
Well if I actually feel like eating breakfast and have time. I usually do a cup of low fat yogurt with granola. Or a peanut butter toasted english muffin, both low in calories and usually fills me up.
Otherwise its just coffee.
My Blog!
I usually grab toast out of the toaster on my way out the door. Or I'll eat some sort of bars, like soyjoy or cliff bars, mostly. There is something that is only in Luna bars I am allergic too... weird.
I love breakfast food. We often have breakfast food for dinner!
That being said, I don't have time to cook it every morning. I had been having cereal every morning before Christmas, but I feel like my body is extra carb sensitive to processed stuff like that, so I've been doing plain oatmeal (lower glycemic index). That, and coffee.
I have FiberOne bars in my desk at work. I bring a yogurt and a banana, and eat them at work as the morning allows.
I never eat breakfast at home; I sleep until the last possible minute and drag myself out of bed to rush around getting ready for work.
