J's old boss has kept him hanging on the possibility of a fabulous job in Ontario, CA. He's the Head of Operations and J would be his #2. He loves J. They have the same work style. (And crass sense of humor)
Today, the old boss called again with this job dangling on a stick. If J passes a phone interview with some higher up, it would mean he's in and would make nearly as much money as me. And while I am reluctant to put Scarlett in daycare, the salary he's being offered would be too good to pass up. Essentially doubling our income would be amazing. We would not be house-poor. We could start really saving. We could afford all the best for Scarlett. And if we move to Corona (very likely), J would still be close by to get her if necessary. Maybe, eventually, I could be at home or part-time.
We also met with our new realtor today and she's seems great so far. Not much inventory available, since we're trying to avoid short sales. We drove around a few neighborhoods. Other than the houses being really close together...I really liked them. Nice looking town. Nice looking families. Kids playing basketball and riding bikes and going to nice parks. I haven't seen that since I was a kid! It's a tough commute for me, but we can't beat the price and the schools and the proximity to friends and family.
Ok...I'm off to research Corona Kindercare prices... Send some of those magic Novembie vibes our way... for J's job and a nice house.
Re: Novembie Vibes for J's job prospect
Ditto!
WEEEEEEW!!! Ton's of vibes to J! Hope he gets it! When you first said Canada I thought you were moving there...It was very scary to me because that's very far...then I continued reading and felt much happier!
HOPE HE GETS IT!!! Keep us posted!
I totally told J we're getting a merry maid earlier today. At least twice a month. I don't want to spend any of my time cleaning.
I was cuddling with Scarlett all day today and realized just how important my time is going to be if I'm away from home 13 hours a day. I am not digging the thought of strangers raising her, so I will be the most devoted mother you ever saw for 3.5 hrs on weekdays and all day on weekends. I'm seriously thinking of shaving my head so I can have more time with her...that or teach her to work a flat iron.
And Erin, I think you are right. This will definitely make the relationship feel more even. I even think J will have more patience with her.
Thanks for all the vibes, girls! I will kyp.
Sending lots of vibes your way!
Good!! You deserve as much baby cuddle time as you can get!
I hope he gets it! I too think that it will help him out a lot, and I second the maid idea. I loved it when we had one. Just to do the PIA things like the floors (we have all tile and hardwood so you have to vac then mop) and scrub the bathtubs and shower doors. Also, two of my cousins moved to Corona a few years ago from Yorba Linda and they love it there. They both have families and like you said, it is a really family friendly area.
