New Orleans Nesties?, Sorry for the PW

Are there any New Orleans ladies here?  I'm 98% we will be going February 6 - 8th with another couple.  Can you make any suggestions on what we HAVE to do/see/eat since we have limited time?  I think carnival starts that weekend.  I'm sooo excited for two reasons:  1.  We've never been and 2. We are meeting my BFF!  I miss her even though I just saw her at Christmas Embarrassed

  • You must eat a Muffaletta sandwich!!  I'm not a coffee drinker but apparently Cafe Du Monde is a big hit there?!

We did the English Garden tour, cocktail tour, steamboat trip, Katrina tour while we were there & enjoyed them.

  • I'm in Boston, but I went to NO 2 yrs ago..  You have to go to Pat OBriens and get a hurricane :)  and you have to go to Cafe du Monde for a beignet (fancy name for fried dough with confectioners sugar on it)  sooooo good :)

You have to do both these things!  There are so many places to eat I recommend that you just walk around and look and I'm sure you will find a great place.  We went to places people suggested and also to places that we happened upon and it was all the best food ever!  I can't wait to go back!

  • I am so jealous...I love NOLA...its is my home away from home.  Def. Cafe Du Monde, Bourbon, Uptown-St. Charles, streetcar, garden district).  I.love.food so all the recs I have are for restaurants!  Mother's is good cheap down home creole food.  (close to Harrah's).  Casamento's , Acme and or Felix are good places to eat Oysters or poboys.  Preservation Hall is good place to listen to some jazz music-but it is pretty touristy.  Locals go to Snug Harbour  If you have time take a swamp tour...Magazine Street is funt o walk around-good eateries and boutiques.  French Market is fun to walk  around.  Warehouse district is fun with galleries-Emeril's is also there.  Commaders Palace, or COurt of Two Sisters are good brunch places   Port of Call has good burgers.  Mila's is a yummy dnner place.  Royal Street during the day...antique stores and such.  But sometimes the true revlers will come out in Ventian carnival style dresses and walk around.  I can go on and on-let me know what you ar eitnereste din and I can giv emore recs.
