Scarlett is about the size of a one year old. If I were to stick with the schedule that my book says is good for a 9 month old. She is grumpy and cries the whole time. However my mom and mother in law are constantly saying "Shouldn't she have a bottle?" or "when was the last time she had a bottle" Here is what I feed her.
Breakfast: Bottle of formula and a handful of cheerios/puffs/cup of yogurt (only one of those not all of them)
Mid morning (just before nap): A bottle of formula
Lunch: Cheerios and cheese and a cup of juice
Afternoon snack (just before nap): some sort of finger food and a bottle
supper: Bottle of formula, cereal, fruit, veggies
Bedtime: Bottle (about an hour before bed)
Re: Am I feeding her too much?
We never gave any Cheerios or fruit juice until after one year of age, actually RJ still does not get juice except maybe once a month as a treat.
We just feed the fruits and veggies that I made as well as a few meat ones and feed until he was full. We had zero issues. Ther eis a great book on baby purees, I got mine as a gift but apparently you can get it from Wal-Mart, it is called Top 100 Baby Purees' I cannot remember who it is buy, but there are amazing mixtures in there that the little ones love.
The only thing I would really think to do is cut out the juice. Young kids don't need juice- it's just calories and if she's a big girl then she doesn't need that (and if you get right down to it, none of us do). I give my son juice but he's a small boy so I figure the extra calories don't hurt him.
Other than that, the only thing I can really think of to reduce the amount of formula, but replace that with more solids. Solids will probably keep her full longer, and she's eating enough of them already so she must be tolerating them well. 40 oz of formula per day does seem like a lot, but I didn't formula feed so I'm not sure. I would guess that she's consuming that much formula because she's ready for more solids and the formula isn't doing enough for her, but that's just a guess- you know her best.
Really, though, I don't think I'd worry too much about it. Everyone's different and she knows when she's hungry.
