Super-Newbie

Hi ladies!

Just posting to introduce myself and whatnot, I've been lurking for a bit.

My fiance and I are in the middle of a big move from Atlanta to Boston, and our wedding is in April.  We've been living the "married life" for a few years now, so the wedding is just our first official step toward a family.  We'll be TTC very shortly after the wedding, and I have both RA and PCOS as well as various hereditary issues, and I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing.  I have to find a new OB/GYN in the Cambridge/Kendall square area which is killing me bc I love my doctor in ATL and find it hard to get comfortable with a dr.  Any suggestions?

Also I write long sentences, sorry.

  • I saw you responding to another post the other day--welcome to the board!  Good luck with your move and planning the wedding.  Are you getting married here or in Atlanta?

As for a doctor, I don't know any OB/GYNs in the area but I always recommend the Harvard Vanguard Group whenever anyone asks for a doctor rec.  I go to the group in Wellesley but everyone I've ever dealt with there has been friendly, professional and *gasp* actually helpful.  I recommend seeing if one of the doctors in their practice is accepting new patients.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Welcome to the board and welcome to Mass!!
  • Thanks for the welcome!  Our wedding was planned and done before we even knew about the move, so the wedding will be in Atlanta, which means LOTS of flying back and forth.  We are definitely excited about the move, it's just happening in the middle of everything.  We've been in Atlanta all of our adult lives, so Boston is brand new for us.  We drove a moving truck with some essentials up on New Year's Day... talk about a fresh start!

I am currently still in Atlanta (until Saturday), getting the house packed up and ready for the movers.  They came this morning to give me an estimate, and I should have it by 5pm.  It's a little bit dizzying...

  • Welcome! You have a ton going on, good for you!

     Couple things:

    1) Cambridge is awesome, you'll love it!

    2) I go to Newton Wellesley which is about 15 minutes from Cambridge. I love my OB/GYN and am also TTC and she's been super supportive when I break donwn in tears in her office! Her name is Karen Devries and she's with Wellesley Women's Care (http://www.careforwomen.com/).

    3) I'm a wedding planner. I know you're getting married in Atlanta, but if you need ANY help or someone to vent to about your wedding, PM me!

  • Welcome & good luck with everything!
  • I don't have any recs but welcome!
