Re: I know this has been posted before but deoderant recs

  • I make my own, but if you're looking to buy a did a blog post on some great "Green" deodorants here.  I wrote my list based on about 5 different lists I read in articles and other blogs and through research.  Though the only one I've actually tried myself was Tom's of Maine, which my Mom uses, and that was only once when I ran out.
  • My favorite are the Gudonya Too Stinky No More deoderants. It works really well for me.

I also tried one from Earth Science that I liked, but needed to reapply.

I bought an apricot rollon from Jason (even though I don't like rollons!) because it was so well recommended and OMG did it make me smell bad, when I'm not normally that sweaty of a person! I think a lot depends on your chemistry.

  • I tried lots of different brands before I found one that works.  I agree with Alisha, it does seem to depend on your chemistry.  I tried Tom's, Jason's, and Alba.  I use Crystal deoderant http://www.thecrystal.com/ which works great for me.  I want to avoid aluminum-based deoderants at all costs.  There has been some research linking them to Alzheimer's, and that runs in my family.  So I am so glad to find a natural deoderant that works!

  • After going through many, I've landed on the Crystal. Quite a few people have recommended it on here and while it still doesn't do the job of the alzheimer causing/cancer inducing stuff I used to use, it does a fine enough job...definitely better than anything else I've tried in the natural, non-alzheimer/cancer causing realm.

If I may ask. What scent of Stinky No More does your DH use?

  • I'm a crystal user, too.  It's the only thing I've ever been able to use without breaking out in a rash and itching up a storm.

I'm intrigued by Stinky No More, but since I've had such a bad track record I'll definitely wait until I can't stand waiting to try it anymore.

  • With non-EF deodorants I had a hard time finding one that actually worked. All of the ones that were slightly effective smelled terrible. I use the Gudonya Too Stinky No More deodorant in Tahitian Vanilla. I love it, it works really well for me. When my shirts used to stink before, they now have a faint smell of the deodorant.

  • My fav is Lavanila's The Healthy Deodorant (lavendar).

A bit pricey ($18) but the best I've found that actually works.

  • I use Kiss My Face Liquid Rock in Lavender.

I have tried a few- and this has been the best one so far.  I tried Jason Tea Tree Stick....not all that great- and it was a little too dry (it almost hurt to rub it on).  Although I really like Weleda products...the deodorant is the one product of theirs that I was really unhappy with.
