Am I the only one with Christmas stuff still up?
In my defense I was away New Year's weekend and haven't really had time since to deal with it. I'm going to take stuff down tonight though because this is supposedly the last week our town is doing tree pickups. It'll probably take me a couple of nights to get everything put away.
I really wish Christmas stuff could stay up longer. It always seems like I've barely had time to enjoy the decorations before it's time to pack it all up again. I guess it doesn't help that Christmas is really the only holiday I do special decorations for so it's the only time the house feels "dressed up."
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: Am I the only one with Christmas stuff still up?
I'm so jealous. I didn't even decorate this year because we travel to Philly every year so I feel like it's such a waste since we can't enjoy it the week of Christmas. Maybe I'll have Christmas at Thanksgiving so I can decorate!
Haha, I agree; putting it all away is such a PITA.
jCam, this year I did actually put stuff up soon after Thanksgiving. We got the tree just a couple of days after, but all the decorations went up piecemeal over the course of the next week. I guess it's just that it takes so much work to put it all up I just wish I could enjoy it longer!
I completely agree!! I would have left our decorations up at least another week (I have been known to leave everything up til February, back when I had a fake tree), but DH took a stand, and while he let me have everything for the 12 days of Christmas (something I feel strongly about, there's a reason 12th night used to be THE celebration night of the Christmas season) instead of taking everything down New Year's Day like he wanted, he noted that this past Saturday was the last day for tree collection in Worcester. (I kept pointing out that we could just take the tree down to my parents' house and dump it at the edge of the field on their property like they do, but I knew tying it to the car and driving it 1.5 hrs wasn't really worth it). I think there's this big shift to put everything up the day after Thanksgiving, and that's probably why things come down so early, but I won't give in, I'm sticking with the traditional time frame (growing up, no Christmas stuff anywhere (except the mall) went up before the 2nd weekend in December).
Ideally, I would take all the Christmas stuff down and immediately start putting the Valentine's Day decorations up, but I know that now is a bit early for Valentine's Day.
And finally, 3 houses I drive by daily have their outside decorations up- it makes me smile to see some Christmas lights on my way home every evening.?
Ahh gotcha. I don't have a ton of stuff so it doesn't take long to take down, so that probably helps.
Someone in my complex still has their tree up and lit every single night, I can see it when I'm driving home and it's so annoying, Christmas is over!
(My stuff came down last week.. )
Oh, and I'd like to add these particular people had their tree up at the beginning of November!
I usually hate driving at night, but I don't mind it in December with all of the lights out. It's so nice to see all of the houses lit up. Then in January things are so dark and depressing again.
