ugh-it gets worse and worse...
So we found our dream apartment! Gorgeous and perfect, but not available for two months. The owner said great, I'll send the paprs over and we'll see you in two months. Nothing was signed, however.
So we found a cat friendly furnished sublet. We signed the lease. Then the owner of the apartment e-mails and says, whoops- it might not be available in two months, she won't know until Jan. 30th. Now we might be stuck with a sublet we don't want or need. DH is beside himself and wants to stay here (if we can get out of the sublet that is!) and wait to see what happens with our 'dream " apartment. I kind of want to scrap the whole thing and take another place we saw yesterday. It was fine, a tiny living room, but otherwise a solid choice. I think my head might explode. I hate New York Real estate.

I completely agree! It's so hard but I try not to look at places mid-lease. It makes me want to move now because I always see 'the place of my dreams' when we are not ready to move.
I really hope it works out for you - and really glad you got the sublet! at least you have that to resolve the immediate apartment woes. good luck and fingers are crossed for you!!
