I think DH needs to start a bootcamp

A financial one, for all these people you guys post about.

The day I lost my job he came home early. With in a few minutes, cable was cancelled. We just maintain our internet, but we downgraded it to the lowest one possible. He's got budgets for just about every scenario in life. Right now in an effort to save money, we don't make any purchases without the other person. Even if it's just a few bucks. We need to save our money.

Even when I was working, he was still a tightwad. But I can honestly say, I appreciate it. We're not in danger of losing our house, or ending up penniless beyond belief.

Although, if 6's BIL or anyone else had to live with DH and his money rules...they'd die.

Re: I think DH needs to start a bootcamp

  • I'd love to be an instructor.  I'd also love to knock BIL and SIL's heads together.  Trust me that DH and I are not at ALL like that.  Part of me being able to stay home was a 6 month e-fund (even without cutting crap), continued 6let college savings, and me fully funding a Roth.
  • I don't believe I would.  Last year I realized what was REALLY important.  Coffee-not important. Netflix, cable, eating out, makeup, hair dye, etc-not important. I'm not going to go as far as dentistry...but there are many things people can give up.

  • That reminds me, I need to cancel the last bit of cable. It's not worth it when I only get four channels and spend $60/month. I'm never home anyway.

  • I need to find some places to make some serious cutbacks. Every time I make a suggestion, H puts the keebosh on it. Cutting back cable isn't an option, we watch TV non-stop.

However, this weekend I gave him my debt card to go shopping and the man spent over $200. That ish has to stop. I guess I can't let him go to the store alone anymore which = me not being able to stay home/try to nuture some agoraphobia. Dammit.
