Realestate Agent?

What was your criteria when looking for a realestate agent?  Did you look for anything specific?  Was there anything you didn't want?

Aaron gave me the okay to start working with someone and could use some tips.  The one thing that's a MUST for me is someone who is NOT pushy!  I like to think over things and look at big investments quite a few times over at least a month period before I buy.  We looked at our bedroom furniture for 2 months before we actually bought it!

Re: Realestate Agent?

  • Word of mouth is usually the best referral....so if you have any friends or family members in the area that have recently purchased or sold, I'd ask them about their agent & see what they say.
  • Tracy- I have a good friend who is from Ephrata and recently bought a house in Lancaster. I could ask her for a recommendation. Do you think she lives close enough to where you are looking? Good job on winning the battle.

Ephrata is a little far from where we are looking.  We are trying to stay within 15 miles of Harrisburg and Ephrata is about 45 minutes away.  Thanks though :-)

Annie. I'll ask a few of my co-workers who they used.  I've met a few agents at open houses we've gone to, but they were too pushy.

  • Keep in mind, pushy can be good in some RE cases.  My gf is an agent and probably comes off pushy but I have heard her tear a new one to the other agents for her clients.  Just keep that in mind.  If you are not interested in a particular property then put your foot down & move on, same thing w/ price--you cannot let them sway you even if they are pushy!!
  • Good point Annie! I didn't think of it that way.
  • I thought using my REA was a waste of my money.  But that is just me.  In the house we are looking at now, we don't have a realtor, just going through the one whose listing the house is.  GL and very exciting.
