Personal Training

Any gals out there use a personal trainer?

I'm looking at getting one just to see once a month where she'll design my program and go over each exercise with me to ensure I'm using the proper technique, do a fitness assessment and take girth measurements.

Every month we'll meet and she'll change up my program to keep me challenged all the time. It will be up to me to do the exercises on my own 2-3 times/wk.

Do you think $50/month is reasonable for this? I have no idea what trainers would normally charge, but I don't think it's too steep. Plus, she's into running too which will help me achieve my own running goals and tailor my workout to it.

Re: Personal Training

  • I think that is a super reasonable pirce. My ILs own a gym and their personal trainer costs more than that per session! It's always good to check in with someone, helps to keep you motivated and accountable and to switch up the routine to ensure you are getting the most from your workouts. I have worked with a trainer in the past and I, personally, disliked it. I have a fitness background, though, so I found myself always debating and arguing with him. lol
  • That sounds reasonable to me, I have never done personal training before because it's so expensive but I think the schedule you have mentioned sounds like a great idea.
  • That sounds like a pretty good plan, and a pretty good price. DH's personal trainer charges $72 an hour, so $50 is definitely good.
  • I pay $70 for an hour session.  He's worth every penny, the adjustments he made just in how I hold something or stand makes a huge difference.  And he pushes me harder then I'll push myself.  Not to mention some of the new ideas for abs, squats, etc that he has.  It does kill though, I recommend stocking up on ice packs before your first session :)
