recommend your vehicle

hey ladies,

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Escape. I'm not the biggest fan of it. I want to get a vehicle that can carry 2 children with car seats and is great on gas.

TIA

Re: recommend your vehicle

  • I am a big fan of Mazda's. I currently have the Mazda 6 and love it. My only beef with them is that they seem to be behind in the Hybrid game so if they don't step it up soon my next vehicle will most likely be a Toyota or something German.

  • Dh has always loved VWs. What do you think of those?

  • I have an Escape and I still really like it but I have been debating getting something more fuel efficient now that I am commuting from out of town. I need cargo room, though, so that limits my choices. I was considering looking at a used Hyundai Santa Fe or something along that line. I'll be curious what folks have to suggest.
  • I love the Passat but haven't looked into the new models with any great detail.
  • I have two civics that I?m pretty happy with. I don?t know if they would be large enough for a family car though. They are amazing on gas and aside from regular maintenance; I?ve never had to fix anything on them. One is a 99 and has almost 300Km on it and the other is 04.

  • I love my Hyundai Santa Fe and the Tucson is even better on gas if you are looking for something a little smaller.
  • I love our Honda Fit.  It's fantastic on gas but we only have one carseat but I'm sure it would fit two.  It's a pretty small car but we always fit everything we need into it.
  • Coming from someone who has literally driven every vehicle under the sun (family owns car dealerships) I can honestly say my DH and I are pleased as punch with the Hyundai Sante Fe! I did a lot of test driving over the past year on multiple mid sized suv's and it exceeded my expectations.  Hyundai is really stepping it up and they are well priced and well made. Thats my vote but if you have specific vehicle questions on anything else let me know id be happy to help! Happy car hunting! :)
  • 2010 Chevrolet Equinox has great fuel economy (better than my little cavalier!!). This is the vehicle we'll probably be buying in a couple years when we decide to have kids.
  • I was going to suggest a Hyundai... they are amazing on gas; just depends what size you are looking at .. the new elentra touring is a hatchback and are quite roomy.
  • I have a Pontiac Vibe and it's really great on gas and has decent room...
March 09 Siggy Challenge image Melting Snow... because it means that spring is actually on the way and it's not snowing or cold.
  • My hubs drives a VW passat 3.2 four motion (equivalent to one of the Audi's (A6 maybe)....  and I drive a VW Rabbit.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE his passat with a love that is unnatural.  My car is great.  Lots of power, lots of room and a nice drive... but unfortunatly they're not making them this model year... they've beefed up the golf instead I think.

We are looking at the Toureg for our next car though... it comes very highly rated and recomended... and in Deisel.

  • I have an 09 Nissan Versa, it's really fab on gas, cheap, and has lots of passenger space. ?Friends of ours with a Pathfinder swear my car has more interior room in the back, I actually think they may be right. ?I'm not sure about loading up a trunk with things like strollers though.

I used to drive a Passat wagon, which I LOVED. ?Except for the whole falling apart at the seams thing that VWs can be very good at. ?(We've owned 4). ? I was able to carry full sheets of plywood inside it. ?Unreal how much space it had, but it broke our spirit and love for VWs. ?It just had too many problems in it's old age. ?

Mr. D owns a VW GTI (golf), it's okay on space, good on gas, and fun to drive.??
