New to board... Albany mom-to-be, hate OB

Hello all!

I am new to this board, though the knot helped me plan my wedding! I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins (YAY!), and I am not loving my OB practice. They don't explain things to me, I always feel rushed, and I never get the same answer twice. I was hoping to deliver at St. Peters, but now am leaning toward Albany Med (more private rooms).

Anyway, I would love ANY input! I work downtown and live near both hosptials, so I would rather not drive up to Latham/Clifton Park for OB care...

 Thank you!
Mel

  • Welcome! Congrats on your twins!

Here is the link to my new doctor. It's the first time I have ever had a male OBGYN and I hope to never leave his practice. He is the only doctor in his practice and you get like 30 min with him and they never ever rush you out of an appt. He also did my surgery for endo a month ago and was just sooooo great.

There are times you will see the lady under him which is the lady under his picture but she is super great as well. It's usually if you have a non-emergency last minute appt kind of thing.

  • I am probably not much help - I went to the AMC Women's Wellness Center on Troy-Schen Rd (Medical Bldg).  I really liked them, there were quite a few Drs in the practice and I had a good experience.

The other practice I have heard recommended a LOT is Clark & Clemens, sort of by Hoffman's Playland., and I know they deliver at AMC.

Have we met?  Your name sounds really familiar.. did you have a small wedding, you are into knitting?

  • Just found the bump board too! Thank you!!

Arctic Fox, I think we may have met on theknot many moons ago! I got married in Aug. 05? We did a few meet-ups at Fridays back then...Yes, I am in to knitting and had a small wedding! Too funny!

And thanks for the input. Will call them and see if I can get in!

  • Hi Melissa (right?),

Congrats on the twins!  I go to Clark Clements, etc in Latham.  I went to Dr. Klein but she is no longer there.

  • Welcome! I go to Upstate OB/GYn...they are on Washington Ave ext and I love them.  I have seen all the doctors and had a wonderful experience there and at ST. Peters when I delivered via C-SEction.  Welcome and good luck!

  • Also, I highly recommend going to AMC as you will get a private room.  Having twins you there is a good possibility you could have a c-section and you won't want to share a room for 3+ nights healing from a section.

I had two great c-section experiences there. Good Luck!

  • Congrats on the twins!

Even though this is scary to consider, as a rule, because all pregnancies with multiples are high risk, I would consider the NICU situation at each hospital. I believe Alb Med is a level 4 and this is optimal in case the babies need extra care.

Also, as a high risk pregnancy, have you been referred to a perinatologist? Something to consider as well if you change your OB.

There is also a "multiples" bump board that might be able to give you lots of information!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and finding an OB!!
