Dish, Direct TV or Cable?
We currently have Time Warner Cable (have had them for a long time) and our bill has gone up what seems like every month. We currently pay $150 a month for Road Runner and Cable in HD (we do not have HBO, Showtime...etc). With our move coming up I have been looking at Dish and Direct TV prices and they seem to be running some good deals, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of any or all?
TIA
Re: Dish, Direct TV or Cable?
I'm interested in this as well.
We have always had TWC, and the bill is $180/mo for RR, Wireless, Digital Cable w/ DVR & Digital phone. NO premium channels.
It sucks. The HD channels pixelate at least once a week and it sometimes reboots itself entirely. The Movies on Demand only work sometimes and we usually have to call customer service and have them reboot if we want it to work.
We don't need the digital phone anymore, but if we dropped it, it makes the other services go up since we no longer have a "package" deal. Since we're not under contract, we want to get the F out.
We just switched to Dish last weekend....
we too had been TWC customers for years, and were just fed up with their BS!
Here's what we did-
1. dropped cable service all together (it was $64.99 a month, plus $7 to rent the DVR box, and $7 to USE the damn box.... crazy, I know!)
2. We lowered our internet to the slowest one (down from $44.95 a month to $27.95 a month) and I can't tell a bit of difference in speed!
3. Got Dish- they came the VERY NEXT DAY to hook it up! The workers were super nice and super helpful. We got the Bronze + I think, which is running us $48 a month, including the HD channels.
So far, we LOVE dish :-)
OKAY...We were TWC but DH wanted to switch and I didn't because of the Internet/Phone service. We switched..it was a nightmare.
We are NOW with DirectTv for TV. $85.00 per month for three TV boxes, DVR on ONE of them. So far so good but I do not like that it goes out in a storm more than cable.
We are back with TWC for internet and phone and pay about 45.00 per month. For a total of 130.00 which is 10-15.00 cheaper then we were paying for a bundle package through TWC for less channels and no DVR.
So there you go. Not sure if that helps you.
we have DISH and pay $75/mo for 1 box (2 TVs), HDTV and HDDVR. we have no premium channels.
we have RR lite and it was $34.95/mo but DH got it lowered to $20/mo.
we will never go back to direct tv or TWC after pixelation problems, lack of service, and poor customer service.
We are paying $190/month with TWC. We have HDTV two DVR boxes (one of the boxes is HD) HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, digital phone, RR plus wireless. I cringe when I pay the bill each month.
We ALMOST had Dish, and would have Dish right now if they weren't a bunch of douches. Not long after we bought our home I saw that Dish Network had a really good special going, so I called and made an appt. Well, our appt time came and went so we called and called. After we got the runaround, we found out the tech was delayed at another home, so we rescheduled for the next day.
So the next day, we wait and wait. No tech. We call again. The tech finally gets in touch with us and again, he's delayed at another home. He gives us a time period to expect him. Nothing. Not even a call. So DH called Dish Network and told them where they could put their satellite dish. I mean, if that's how we're treated as potential customers, we feared what would happen once we were locked in.
