Superbowl Food?

I apologize in advance if this was already discussed last year or even this year already, but...

We're hosting a Superbowl party and I want to make a bunch of stuff. I have a few ideas - spinach/artichoke dip, 7-layer dip (beans, cheese, guac, etc.), obviously beer, chips, and possibly brownies. We'll probably get boneless wings and/or pizza too. We're probably going to have about 15ish people over. Does anyone have any other ideas? If you're hosting a party, what are you making?

Re: Superbowl Food?

  • My new favorite thing is something my husband made on NYE. They are called sausage balls and are super simple. One pound rolled sausage, we use Jimmy Dean hot, but any kind will work. 3 cups Bisquick. 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. We use Fiesta blend cheese, but that is only because we keep it on hand in the house. And a half cup of milk. Squish all of this together with your hands. Roll into 1 inch balls and bake on 400 degrees for about 9 minutes (or until they are golden brown). They are such a great little finger food!

  • I love queso w/ hamburger meat.  We make it with a block of velvetta, a can of rotel, and browned hamburger meat.  Just mix it all together and heat, serve with chips.  It is super yummy.

  • We are still debating on whether we will have one or not but if we do, DH requested empanadas, Irish Car Bomb cupcakes, wings -- I make them with Jack Daniels, apricot preserves, allspice, chili powder, cayenne, and lime juice and they are spicy but sweet.  I almost always have chips, salsa, and gaucamole.  I may make a Mexican fondue/queso.  Hummus, vegetables and pita bread for something a little healthier and maybe fruit skewers with yogurt dip as well.

  • I will probably make seasoned pretzels.  A bag of preztels, bottle of popcorn oil (it has a buttery flavor), pkg of ranch dressing mix, and dill mixed in a bowl about 3 days before the event.  Stir it every once in a while and on the 3rd day enjoy.  I tend to end up with extra oil at the bottom so I usually drain this at the end but put it all in at the beginning so it can soak into the preztels.

  • Buffalo chicken dip is huge in our circle of friends (everyone loves it)!  You can google search and find a recipe but it is basically just chicken, Frank's buffalo sauce, ranch/sour cream mix, and cheddar cheese.
  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone! They all sound delicious - I'll have to research and check with the H :) .
