Simon leaving Idol!

I must say that I agree with him going out while he is on top because I have a funny feeling that people are just about Idol'd out.  I just don't think it will be the same without him. Sometimes people need to hear honesty and I feel like that's what he brought to the panel.

Re: Simon leaving Idol!

  • Yup agreed.

After he leaves, Randy will be the only original member, and no one tunes in jst to see him. Simon and Paula MADE the show...aside from the singers.

Im watching tonight to see how bad it is with Ellen on.

  • Yep, agree!  I stopped watching a few seasons ago... just sort of bored w it and too many reality tv shows to choose!
  • I agree with both of you.   I am actually pretty sad to see him go though....I watched for him.  Paula drove me crazy but she was at least funny and I loved to see what she was going to wear all the time.  Randy just doesnt do anything for me.  Kara is talented and I respect her, I just dont feel like she brings enough to the show.  I too am curious to see what Ellen brings.
  • Oh and I always watch the first parts because I think they are funny.  I usually determine then if I will continue based on liking people alot or not.  We shall see.

I agree.  I only really watched the past 2 or 3 seasons in full, and am pretty Idol'd out now.  I'm not sure I want to watch this season.  I'm kind of over reality shows in general.  I'm sad to hear Simon's leaving because IMO he made the show (other than the singers I guess).  And even though Paula's crazy, it's watching her craziness that kept people coming back.  Her and Simon just worked off each other well.  I will say I did NOT like it when Ellen was a guest judge on SYTYCD over the summer.  I had to change the channel every time she spoke.  She tried to make a cutesy joke about everything, and it was beyond irritating.  Don't get me wrong, I like Ellen in other things, but just not as a judge on these types of shows.  I wonder if she will be the same on Idol.  I haven't decided if I'll even just watch the tryouts or not...

This is what I am worried about.  I like her and I like her shoe but for some of these people, this is their life and they gave up a lot to be there and make a go of it.  I hope that she doesnt try to make light of the whole situation. Of course I mean once they get to hollywood, not the original pranksters and such.
  • I agree with all of you. Since the show started, it has slowly been fading and I can see why Simon wants out while the going's good. And allhough he was a d!ck, it was the truth. It won't be the same without him. I think it'll lose a lot of viewers now.

I stopped watching after the 1st season of Idol.

  • Simon is a big reason I watch.  The song choices have gotten worse over the years.  But that's what happens when it's...everybody sing from the Barry Manilow songbook... and they start picking obscure things because the standouts are taken.  It makes me want to sing, though.

  • I heard Ellen will not be on until hell week! Tonight it is going to be Victoria Beckham.

And, Simon is bringing XFactor to the U.S., and he will be on that show. They did the same thing in the UK... Phased Idol out for the Xfactor.

  • I think Simon is wise to jump from this sinking shift.  With Paula gone, and Ellen in, I think the show will be barely tolerable this year (I will not be watching).  I can't imagine how it will be next year without Simon.  Sad

Lame -- I really did enjoy the show with the original panel.  (And Kara wasn't horrible, although she did disrupt the rhythm somewhat.)
