Valentine's Day

I saw in another post that someone was looking for suggestions for Valentine's Day.  Anyone have any plans/gifts/etc. already in mind?

Re: Valentine's Day

  • My suggestion is in the other post... but we are doing a romantic dinner at home.  I'm going to cook and bake for once... and that NEVER happens in our house.  I think I am pretty safe with spaghetti and cupcakes though!
  • Well my husband and I's birthday is also in February and we love to laugh. First dinner. We have bought tickets to see Gabriel Iglesias on Thursday Feb 18th at the Paramount Theatre.

He is hilarious!  I love him and Anjelah Johnson.

  • Ugh.  I haven't even thought about Valentine's yet.  I think the nice dinner at home sounds like a great option.

  • We usually do dinner at home. It's just too expensive to go out in Austin.  Probably no gifts this year since we honestly went a little overboard at Christmas, plus his birthday is the next month and we're going to Vegas for it.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • We do dinner at home as well.  With DH's work schedule and the irregularity of having DSS, we just make a nice dinner when we both have time.
  • We don't really do anything except maybe go to a nice place to eat and watch a movie. I do take advantage of buying a bunch of candy the day after though. Yum.
  • I am going to be OOT for work until late at night on the 13th, so I am not sure we will do much other than have a nicer-than-usual dinner at home. We don't usually give big gifts. If we were going out, I would want to go to Justine's or dinner at Texas French Bread on 29th.

  • Since its a weekend, we'll probably have brunch somewhere but then do dinner at home. No gifts though. Too much spending lately!
  • I don't think I've ever eaten Valentine's Day dinner in a restaurant!  Interesting to see that a lot of other folks have that same plan.

I saw a blog post that made me think of a possibly neat idea for a Valentine's day gift:  here.  Would a dude like to receive a vase full of vintage arrows delivered to his office?  Like if they came with a little card with a clever cupid-y message?  (You know, "Hit me baby one more time" or something like that.  Okay, so feel free to brainstorm your own message ideas. Stick out tongue)

  • We also stay home. My birthday is the end of February plus our anniversary used to be in February (our wedding anniversary is now January 25, so still not too far away). So going out on Valentine's Day is just a lot of money spent ... when we could celebrate either our anniversary or my birthday with the same dinner for much less money.

One year when we first started dating, we did go downtown for dinner and stayed in a hotel ... but then my birthday wasn't as much fun and I can't have that! LOL, so I usually cook, wear something sexy and we stay home Smile

  • I'm sure we'll also do dinner at home. I'm thinking maybe a Mangia heart-shaped pizza this year. I'm hoping he'll agree to no gifts.

Now THAT is a fun idea!  I didn't know Mangia made those!

Whataburger and Freebirds should totally do this.

  • we usually make cheese fondue at home, I'm thinking we'll do the same this year.

  • that is our 1 year anniversary yay!  We are going to a B&B in Salado.  I just hope I'm over my MS by then!
  • DH and I always celebrate with dinner somewhere on the 13th since the 14th is usually crazy.  Not sure if that will be the plan this year since I am running the Austin Half marathon and I'm sure a ton of other ppl will be pasta carb'ing it up on the 13th....mmmm pasta!
