Re-stringing necklaces?

I have a couple of necklaces where the string has stretched and I'm worried will break. Do you all know where I could get them re-strung and how much that might cost?

Re: Re-stringing necklaces?

  • I am glad you asked this question!  I have a strand of pearls and two other (inexpensive) necklaces that have broken and I need re-strung.  I hope someone chimes in.
  • Are they on silk?  I could teach you how to re-string and tie, though it is time-consuming.  I would try calling Kirk Root since they have jewelers onsite.  They might be able to refer you to a place that could re-string the necklace for you.

  • I have no idea what kind of thread! Embarrassed That's exactly why I shouldn't do it myself, I wouldn't know what is best or where to go to get it. Plus both have really small holes and I feel like there has got to be some kind of needle or tool that professionals use to string (which I don't have).

  • The silk usually comes with a pre-threaded needle on the end.  My guess is that it's probably silk because it's durable.  But I totally understand wanting someone else to do it because it can be overwhelming!  Sorry I don't know of anyplace off the top of my head.

A thought - I have bought stringing silk at Nomadic Notions.  They might know of a place that could re-string for you, too.
