1) Make sure to use bright light when checking to see if your skirt is sheer enough to require a slip.
2) If choosing to ignore rule #1, don't wear road-cone orange undies...just in case.
3) If ignoring both rules #1 & #2, definately don't tuck your shirt underneath the band of said road-cone orange undies in an attempt to keep you shirt from blousing out around the top of your skirt.
Guess how I fared today on my fashion test? Fail, fail, fail. I just ran to the bathroom to untuck my shirt as soon as I noticed, but now I have to go the rest of the day wondering if I caught this before anyone noticed, or if my CWs are just too nice to tell me that they could see my bright orange underwear but are secretly laughing about it behind my back ![]()
Re: Fashion lessons for the day
Oops. Well, Laud, if it makes you feel any better, my Dh SWEARS I'm the only female under the age of 65 to not only own a slip, but that actually wears one. So, I will go home tonight and show my DH this post and say "See, I'm NOT the only one." So, thank you for that.
As far as the orange underwear--mind sharing where you bought them? Orange is my favorite color, and I haven't bought any lately....sooo...again, you'd really just be helping a girl out.
Finally--I doubt they will actually LAUGH at you. They may chuckle inwardly, but laugh out loud....I doubt it. And hey, maybe you could slip the office clown a few bucks and tell him/her to fart loudly at an awkward moment or tuck his shirt through his fly--the office will forget all about your mild faux pas. (I wouldn't worry too much, in all actuality--didn't you say you work with mostly men? If they even notice, they will probably LIKE it....)
ew ew ew ew ew.....they're mostly all old & curmudgeony, so that's not a comforting thought. Yes, out of the 50 people in my department, there's only 5 women (1 other engineer, 2 designers, & the admin assistant).
DH's favorite color is orange too; that's why I have this pair
They're the new Lacies from VS. They're a total ripoff of Hanky Pankies (touted as the most comfortable thong in the world), but they're cheaper, so I switched to buying these.
haha, this is too funny. can I ask what color your skirt is?
to be honest, I FEEL old and frumpy when wearing a slip AND I hate that I can't find one with a wide elastic band, instead of the thin bunchy kind that won't stay where I want it to...I've looked everywhere for a modern updated version of the "slip" and have yet to be successful.
If anyone has references, PLEASE pass along!
:::::pats Laud's head:::::
You're pretty
(this thread is so cute lol)
Poor you.
I don't even own a slip, so I would always fail at #1. But my lack of a slip always makes me extra cautious about my panties.
I'm sure no one notieced.
This one: http://tinyurl.com/yhzqou2 It's a nude-colored liner w/ a black semi-stretchy lace overlay. That liner is much thinner than I thought it was when I tried it on this morning in the dim light of my livingroom lamp. Don't get me wrong, I love the skirt; I just don't want my shirt tail (&, briefly, underwear) showing though.
I like it, too bad you had to untuck your shirt- the top of the skirt is what makes the lacey thing feel modern and I love the grey bands!
and don't worry, it's black and probably NOT as see through as what you think!
