Ugh houseguests

My H has some friends coming in this weekend to go to some DJ show in San Diego. Their flight was supposed to land at LAX at 8:00ish, so we figured with them picking up a rental car and driving out, we'd see them around 10:00.

Well, they landed at LAX, then decided to go to Santa Monica to get something to eat. My H called them at 9:30 and they were still there. I finally went to bed, but they didn't roll in until freaking 11:30. Keep in mind, most mornings we are up at 5:00.

Anyhoo, I am pissed and anything my H says to them they'll probably just blow off. I won't see them until I get back on Saturday, but what would you say? Anything? I don't want to be a confrontational _bitch, but we're not a hotel, and I'm just really surprised anyone could be that inconsiderate.

Re: Ugh houseguests

  • Hmm...I'm inferring by the lack of response I'm overreacting. Smile
  • That was definitely rude of them, and if they were staying longer than this weekend, I would have YH mention to them that you get up at 5 am for work, so please try not to come in too late at night.  When do they leave?

  • Sunday. I guess I'll just forget about it and make sure H lets them know what the jig is next time they come out. This actually happens fairly frequently when people come out. I think they forget we're not on vacation, and have jobs and stuff to do during the week.

MH's friends would be the same way.  You hit the nail on the head.  It's "vacation" for them but regular everyday life for us, and sometimes people lose sight of that.  I am getting old, dammit.  I am asleep by 10 pm, so that would annoy me too.

  • I am used to stuff like this, unfort.  I just leave the key under the mat.  But yes, it's inconsiderate.  At least you didn't have to pick them up!  I'd be seeing red if that were the case.
  • This is why I'm grateful to live in a teeny tiny apartment.  No one ever wants to stay over! You're better than me Marshy, I would've said something and it would not have been nice!

    I'm glad they're leaving soon!

  • I don't think you're overreacting, I guess I'm just guilty of something similar. DH and I usually go to bed around midnight, even when we're getting up early the next day. It sounds lame, but sometimes it just doesn't occur to me that other people's schedules are so different.

My example was on a weekend at 9:30 (too late for the hosts) though, and I got a hotel room when I realized I was keeping them up.

  • You're not overreacting.

    That was inconsiderate.
