Should I take up baking?

Morning ladies!

Anything fun going on for you this weekend? I'm not doing much (which I'm so excited for!)

I was thinking of baking this weekend and trying to see if I"m good at it! Any recommendations on what I should make that's easy?

  • What are you in the mood for?

  • I love to bake. Do you want to do bread type baking or sweets type baking?

  • I love to bake too! Cookies... brownies... muffins... cakes... yummy!!!
  • Muffins, cookies and quickbreads are pretty easy- I don't have patience for anything more complicated than that! haha I do want to start making our own bread though. Check out some of the cooking blogs on the what's cooking board- they have some really great baking recipes.
  • Let us know how you do!

  • Yes, you should try baking :-D I love to bake.

I'd say cookies, but I know some people have trouble with cookies when they're just starting. You kind of have to just know how the dough is supposed to look- following the recipe isn't always enough. But still, the tollhouse cookie recipe on the bag is a good starting point- and the dough will be good, even if the cookies aren't. :)?

  • I never thought of baking bread but I'm salivating at the thought now! I could probably try that and then maybe I'll try brownies. How can you mess up brownies, right???
  • Best.  Cookie Recipe.  Ever.

    1 cup peanut butter

    1 cup sugar

    1 egg

Mix, scoop onto pan, bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.  Let them cool for about 30 minutes before you even look at them haha.  Don't worry about the texture at any point, because it will seem kind of weird.  And when you first pull them out of the oven you always feel that they are too liquid- it's because of all the peanut butter- it's melty and runny.  Just let them cool in the pan for at least half an hour, then try them when they are still a little warm.  It's the easiest recipe I've ever found, and the only one I have memorized!

  • I love it because you can just about ALWAYS whip up some cookies bc these ingredients are so simple.  It took me a few tries to get them right- no one told me they would look like liquid when they came out of the oven.  Then I finally had a good batch, but forgot to make the "fork marks" on the top.  :/  I hope they turn out well for both of you, let me know how it goes!
