Re: RP: Poll - What do you drive?
1- I drive a 2006 Pacifica Touring Edition (3 rows) and DH drives a 1990 Bronco
2- I love love love my car. We don't have any kids, but our dog loves all the space
3- I get about 19 - 21 miles per gallon
4- I drive about 30 minutes round trip to work and about an hour round trip to school. My car is super comfortable and quiet.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? '02 Saturn SC2, '05 Dodge Ram
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? mine: Yes for reliability, no for luxury, DH: no because it's big and dumb and guzzles gas
3. How's the gas mileage?mine: excellent, almost as good as a hybrid when it was new, DH: sucks big time
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? 10 minutes, yes, it's ok
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a 2008 Ford Escape, DH and I just bought a 2010 Honda Ridgeline for him that he'll drive when he comes home.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I LOVE mine. I would buy it ten times over again. So far, we really like DH's truck. I only drive it once or twice a week to keep it moving but so far, so good. DH only had it a week before he left again, but he likes it. It won out over the competition.
3. How's the gas mileage? mine averages right around 25, not so sure about DH's.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? my commute is about 15 miles/30 minutes (one-way). I drive my car and it's comfortable.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue and DH has a Jeep Wragler.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I love my car, I love DH's Jeep to but it's mostly just fun.
3. How's the gas mileage? The gas mileage on my car is great, DH's, not so much.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? Both of ours is only 10 miles from home and about a mile apart from each other, so we carpool to work.
1. What kind of car do drive? '08 Ford Escape
DH? He has a take home car for work. A '09 Ford Fusion. He also drives my old '01 Jetta for personal errands.
2. Would you recommend yours? Love mine! It's a smaller SUV, but perfect size for me. DH's Ford seems comfortable. And the Jetta did great for me for 8 years. Not sure if you care about the back seat, but it is cramped back there. Not much room.
3. How's the gas mileage? The Ford doesn't do as good as I hoped, but still ok for a SUV. Maybe in the low to mid 20s.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? 15 miles / 25 minutes. Yes, I usually drive everyday. When its warmer out I hope to take the bus occasionally to save on gas and miles. Very comfortable!
1. What kind of car do drive? 2006 Kia Sorento & 1996 Honda Accord DH? 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I would recommend them all
3. How's the gas mileage? I fill up the Kia once a week, DH drives the other 2 more than I do, but he fills up like every week and a half. I drive the Kia about 40 miles round trip each day and I think to only fill up once a week is pretty good.
4. How long is your commute to work? 40 miles round trip Do you drive your car? Yes Is it comfortable? Yes
DH's car is a company car, so we don't have much choice in that.
1. Me - Nissan Murano. DH - Dodge Ram truck
2. Me - yes, I love my car. DH - he likes his, but its sort of a gas guzzler.
3. Me - low 20's. DH - no idea, but our gas is free in the truck
4. Me - about 30 minutes and its really comfy. DH - he's constantly commuting to see his clients. he drives a ton.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? 99' Toyota Corolla
DH- 07' Leuxs Rx 350
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Both are great cars
3. How's the gas mileage? Corolla- excellent, Lexus- for an SUV fine
4. How long is your commute to work? we both have a 20 minute commute-BUT I drive alot between different offices and DH drives all around seeing clients
Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My corolla is too small for DH (he is 6'7) to be really comfortable in. Its fine for me, but I would not buy it if you want a family. Carseats would not fit in it comfortably behind the driver seat and would not fit at all if DH was driving. We rarely take my car anywhere together unless we don't want the other car messy. We take the Lexus for all road trips, otherwise we would never fit luggage. dog crates, ect in the corolla . When i get a new car, I would get a bigger sedan like a Camry, or Accord
TIA! We are in the market for a used car and can't seem to land on one so I thought I would ask here on what you gal would recommend.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a Toyota Corolla & DH drives an Acura TSX.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Mine is a great commuter car b/c of it's gas mileage and has a surprising amount of trunk space. We can actually fit more in mine than DH's, even though DH's is a larger (though still mid-size) sedan. It isn't a very comfortable ride, though, and I'm pretty sure we'll be trading it in shortly to get something bigger for when we have kids. DH's car is by far more comfortable a ride and is our road trip car of choice b/c it has a lot of the bells & whistles mine is missing (climate control, heated seats, much quieter ride, and much more). I'd definitely recommend his.
3. How's the gas mileage? I think both our cars get similar gas mileage, around 30 ish.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is approx 8 miles. I drive my car, but enjoy taking DH's when he's not using it
mine's a '97 accord, 25 city/31 highway
DH's is a '99 tacoma, 18 city/22 highway
the fun car is a '04 honda S2000, we just won't discuss the gas mileage if DH is driving.
for used, i'd go honda or toyota.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a 2000 Honda Civic (coupe). DH drives a 2000 Chevy Prizm
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Yes, I do love mine, DH and I both tolerate his--in our defense, neither one of us are really "car" people.
3. How's the gas mileage? We both get around 30 miles/gal highway, a little less around town. Dh's car has a bigger fuel tank than mine so I do fill up more than he does.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is about 15 miles each way-- and I prefer to drive my car. It is pretty comfortable for a small car--I do think the coupe version is a tad more comfy than the Honda sedans. The trunk space is surprisingly large and I love that the back seats fold down if I need to haul something long.
While I love my car--and my family has always loved our Hondas, I will most likely get a Subaru next--for size and for our lifestyle. HTHs!
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Saturn L200 2001, Honda Accord 2001
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I do love my saturn and it's been a super good car for me - but I know there's some issues w/ it being a discontinued company so sadly I wouldn't recommend it! But DH's Accord is fantastic and works great - we plan on having that car for many more years.
3. How's the gas mileage? Pretty similar on the two - 28/30 mpg Hwy
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is about 20 minutes - I do drive my car and it is super comfortable. We've taken both cars on long road trips and both are very comfy (and both have a good amount of trunk space for cars their size!)
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Jeep Cherokee (not grand), it's a hand me down from DH b/c we haven't replaced my car from my accident, but I drove a Jeep then too. DH drives a Dodge Ram
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I
Jeeps and can't see myself driving anything else. I'm kind of biased. So yes, I would totally recommend a Jeep. And since you're looking for a used car, if you can find the old style they are totally worth the search. They're hard to find b/c they stopped making that body type after '01 so people tend to hold on to them. But I hear the Grand Cherokee and the Liberty are good cars too. I don't recommend the Dodge Ram. It sucks. We got a lemon.
3. How's the gas mileage? Not great, but I always driven an SUV so I'm used to it. The gas in the Dodge is worse and the tank is huge. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone totaled it (as long as we aren't in it of course)
Gas doesn't last us as long here as it would in a city b/c there are so many hills to drive over and no interstate so we have a lot more stop-and-go traffic.4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? Me, N/A, DH's work is across the street.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I have a 1997 Audi A4 (hand-me-down from my Dad). DH has a 2004 VW Jetta.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I really like my car, but I think part of that is the sentimental value. In the last 2-3 years I've had to have several big repairs as the car has gotten older. DH'S car is pretty much the same as mine but a different make. VW's typically don't fare that great in terms of reliability ratings but so far DH's car has held up very well.
3. How's the gas mileage?I get about 27 mpg highway. I have no idea what DH's car gets.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I drive about an hour each way. I think it's comfortable being in the front, but both of our cars are a bit cramped if you're riding in the back. I do like the sporty handling on my car.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Toyota Matrix, Ford Contour
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? YES!!! I love my Matrix so much. It has tons of room, but isn't a big car. We also love that it has hard plastic in the back, so we don't feel bad about carting around dirty things (plants, wood, etc.). It also is very flexible since you can flip down all or part of the backseat. And if you are carting something large, the front passenger seat flips down as well. We bought ours used through Toyota Certified Used Cars and loved the price and the warranty we got with it! I don't like DH's car but don't really have any valid reasons for that opinion
3. How's the gas mileage? I honestly don't know since I don't track that, but I know the Matrix as ranked well when we bought it (compared to other cars)
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I drive the Matrix between 20 and 30 min each way to work and it is very comfortable. This is always our car of choice for long road trips.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I just got a new car on Saturday. It's a 2008 Ford Taurus X. DH drives a 2004 Nissan Sentra
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? So far I love love my car! It's got three rows of seats which is intended to fit babies and doggies! DH's Nissan has been nothing but a pain in the ass. It's always had a starting problem which we keep sinking money into. I hate that car.
3. How's the gas mileage? For the size of my car I get in the low twenties which is good for this sized car. I couldn't afford to get a hybrid yet but one day! DH's does okay but in today's market he could do so much better - mid to high 20's.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is about 40 minutes round trip - about half is highway driving. That's probably my favorite thing about my car is how comfortable it is. We'll also be using this car for our long trips back to PA and it's so much better then doing it in the Nissan.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Jeep Wrangler, Ford F-150
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Yes for fun, no for gas mileage or if you have kids. It was my surf/beach mobile and cant give it up!, Yes for practicality and comfort.
3. How's the gas mileage?Poor-it is a 4 cylinder, Average for the pickup
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? No work for me and DH has a work van.
I am in the market for a new car as well. I will not put the babes in the back of a wrangler. Plus. the ford is lifted and I struggle with climbing into it, let alone tossing a newborn up there.
I think we are going to go with a crossover, possibly the ford edge. This will not be until mid-summer so I get a little more playtime with my jeep.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Me Acura TSX DH Acura MDX (the SUV)
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? HIghly recommend both we LOVE them.
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine is mid to upper 20's. DH's is low 20's I think
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? 20 minutes..my car is very comfortable. DH's car is a great ride for an SUV, feels more like a car than a truck.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Me: 2008 Volvo S40 DH: 2004 GMC Envoy XUV
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I love my little Volvo. It's a little on the small side, but that's fine right now. DH's is nice, because his SUV is the one that you press a button and the roof slides in, so it also gives you more of the freedom of a truck if you're carrying something tall.
3. How's the gas mileage? I get about 27-28 hwy, 22 city. DH's sucks. It gets like 15.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I can get to work in about 12 minutes. I drive my car. It's a pretty smooth ride. DH walks from the bedroom, down the hallway and into our spare bedroom/office. So no, no commute for him.1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive an 09 Toyota Corolla. DH drives an 2003 Audi A4
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I love my car, it gets great gas mileage. DH's car has been nothing but a problem (we bought it used). All the repairs are mega expensive.
3. How's the gas mileage? I get 34-36 miles/gallon...dh gets 20 something
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute to work is about 35 min and home is about 50. I do drive my car and I love it. DH drives for work (2-5 hours/day) and he is comfy in his car.
I drive an 09 Corolla and I think it is a great family car. I have a car seat in it. We traveled to WV and back after black friday..we had the car seat, a dog crate, luggage, and other misc in the back seat alone. IDK if they changed sizes since 07, but I defintely will keep it for when we have a family.
1. What kind of car do drive? 2006 Honda Civic DH? 1999 Honda Accord
2. Would you recommend yours? Absolutely DH? Yes
3. How's the gas mileage? 30 city 40 highway for the Civic, about 27 city 35 highway for the Accord
4. How long is your commute to work? 15-20 minutes Do you drive your car? yes Is it comfortable? yes
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I would recommend both of our cars. I like mine because it's small, light, and compact. It also handles surprisingly well in the snow. DH's car has all the luxury features.. heated seats, sun roof, etc. but feels too big and bulky for me. He's 6'5 though so it gives him plenty of room.
3. How's the gas mileage? Both are are average.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is 20 mins., I drive my car and yes it's comfy.
What I was trying to say is that yes a carseat can fit in the back but it would not because my DH has to have the seat back as far as it can go to drive. When he does this no one can sit back there. No leg room at all. I do not think a rearfacing carseat would fit. If you are a smaller driver you probably do not have this issue.?
I drive a Subaru and ADORE it.
I have a 2010 Sub Forester & it is amazing. Very comfortable, tons of leg room, tons of options, & it wasn't expensive. Big trunk, plenty of room for the carseat, plus our gear & the dog & us.
