So I vented here once about how now that Hubby and I are married, everyone and their mother are asking when we're having kids. So annoying. So now Hubby is in on it! Every time I mention something like, "oh I am sooo hungry today" or "my tummy feels a little odd - must've eaten something that isn't sitting right" (and I'm lactose intolerant so that happens often) he jumps right in with "maybe you're pregnant". hmm, not likely. I've even gone so far as to test just so he'll knock it off. He honestly asked me if I wanted to get "knocked up" for my birthday on Sunday. EWW! We'll be on a family ski trip with one of my sisters and her husband and my parents!
We've discussed our timeline for kids and both agreed that we need to be more financially stable than we are at the current moment. Ideally, we would like to work on getting a bigger customer base for our home business so that he is home during the day and we can work daycare out of the equation since it is so expensive. We're both 30 (well me on Sunday - close enough) so it isn't going to be too long because hey, the clock only ticks so long - but still that doesn't mean today. He says that he's just teasing me about it but I honestly don't think he is. I think that he wants it to be a reality but it is soooooooooooo not a good time at present.
I just wish he'd start listening to his head and stop thinking with his heart. I would love to start a family with him, just not right now. Ugh - vent over.
Re: Gah - Hubby apparently has babies on the brain
LOL, yikes.
Remind me - what is your home business?
Interesting. Do you work mainly in the Twin Cities or is this a nationwide search?
(I'll be in Minneapolis in August, btw, for my sister's doctoral graduation. We should get coffee!)
National, local doesn't matter actually. Hubby's main customer is in Connecticut. Thats one of the beautiful things about this business - the company contracting Hubby emails the files over and then most everything can be explained/clarified with a single phonecall. Hubby does the work and emails the finished drawings. Its worked pretty slick so far!
The guy who Hubby does his work for loves working with him because he doesn't have the overhead of having someone on staff that isn't always going to be busy every single day of the week. He pays hubby just for the time he needs. As for my group, I used to work as a project assistant for them and added drafting to fill a need they had. I always was paid separately for my time for that work. Even though I got laid off, they still need occasional drafting done and they still call me since I know their system and can read their chicken scratch!
Totally let me know when you're in the cities! Is your sister at the U of M?
No, she got her Masters through Capella, an online university. I don't know if they're based through the Twin Cities, or if that's just one of the national hubs they're using for graduation. Either way, that's where it is. It all works out because my brother lives in St. Cloud, so we'll get to see him, too.
How romantic...
When I worked for Kaplan University Online, they only offered a Bachelor of Science for Nursing. A basic RN only needs an associates degree, and participants in the Bachelors were required to already have RN status w/ their associates. It's a continuing education kind of deal.
I'm not sure how Capella runs it though.
No kidding - that phrase has always just sorta grossed me out!
