I HONESTLY thought they were called Uggs because they are ugly. Like in a so ugly they are cute kind of way intended to be ugly. I said that to people who wear them everyday and I think I really offended them. Oops.
So I figured I'd come here and offend more people. I wouldn't be caught dead with a pair of Uggs on my feet.

Re: Uggs
I've never really understood the hype over such expensive boots. I mean they're not terrible, but I don't think there is anything spectacular about them. Some of them are ugly as all get out. But the more neutral ones I could see myself in (like the all one color, plain ol' lookin regular color no funky pattern boot with fur on the inside)
Although if you ever see me in a pair of real uggs take my temp because I must be sick to spend that kind of money on shoes!
I do NOT get this. I wear boots in the winter because it is COLD. I could not put on a pair of furry, meant to keep you warm, boots in the summer because my feet would sweat to death.
I wear crocs pretty religiously (but the more cute style ones, not the traditional ones) so I feel like I can't make fun of UGGS. LOL.
I lover my crocs!
You definitely don't get to talk sh!t about uggs
Ohhh do I ever have Uggs stories. There are times where you would think that nothing else is for sale in Albany, based on my students' foot attire!
Let me pick a few choice ones.
- Last year I taught a semester long Russian 7 class that started in February- prime Uggs time. (It was a very snooty group- luckily I haven't had too much interaction with this bunch this year!) So one day I noticed that seven or eight of the students came in wearing Uggs. I joked to the class "Gee, I guess I missed the memo that today was Uggs day!". One girl looked at me straight on, with a complete children-of-the-corn expression: "Everyday is Uggs Day".
- This week we have begun our MONTH of midterms. Tuesday/Thursday was English-Language Arts testing. I glanced around my homeroom and of the 12 girls in the room, 9 of them were wearing "real" Uggs!! One girl was wearing Emus, too- so 10/12 were wearing an Ugg- or Fugg.
I am still in awe of their price tag- $140+??! I have a couple of students with many, many different pairs too. One girl has 8 pairs (she told me very proudly). They aren't even waterproof!
I have heard they are comfy... I will probably never know!
My students claim they are cool in the summer...?
lol, but these ones aren't THAT bad...and usually have to wear them to weddings because they make my feet hurt the least (and I've tried pretty much everything for that!)
This. Pffffff lol
Truth be told, the biggest problem I have with Uggs is that I can't fit my fat a$$ into skinny jeans so I wouldn't know what to wear with them anyway. Haha. My bod wasn't made for Uggs.
Guilty. I am wearing some now. They are the MOST comfortable things I have ever put my feet in! They were my b-day present from hubby (that I ordered for myself - lol).
I used to be a hater but have been converted to a lover. However, in my defense I do NOT wear them with skirts and don't even wear them with skinny jeans (because like Gerrie my ass doesn't fit in skinny jeans!) I wear them under my jeans
Going to college in Florida, I never understood why some of the girls would wear them with miniskirts. Not cute. I just thought they were awful. After I moved to DC, I learned that they do serve a need, but I ain't payin' that kind of money for snow boots when I get something similar for DSW for $50. Speaking of which, have you heard of the Skecher shape-ups? They're those special shoes that are supposed to tone your legs. Weeeell... they make snow boot versions of it.
Dude, I don't need some weirdo looking heel that's going to make my butt "47% tighter" or whatever while I try to maneuver through ice and snow.
Gerrie,....I wear uggs. I wear them with my jeans over the boots. Boot leg jeans are perfect! I have the regular style uggs not the tall ones.
I'm a tiny thing and I don't do skinny jeans. I have a knock off pair (payless $25 thank you!) and what I do is just pull the bottom of my jeans so they're tight on my calves and fold the back and shove my foot in real fast and pull my hand out of the boot with the quickness so they don't come unfolded in back then I just straighten out the jeans in the back but you can't tell I'm wearing regular jeans and not skinny jeans
Me too!
Gerrie: ITA! I say they call em Uggs b/c they're so ugly (f-ugly even).
And good god w/ the crocs!
Sorry girls...I'm just a boots or keens kinda gal (and my skecher owly flats).
