What is your favorite kitchen
"thing" that's improved your time in the kitchen?
Everyone knows we're moving, and we usually organize and such every time we do (we "clean house" but also consider how we can make things more efficient.)
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm dying to do something with the spices, but can't seem to find anything I like and think is worth the $$.
Re: What is your favorite kitchen
At my condo I had a wire spice rack that went in the cabinet. You could pull it down for easier access to spices. I loved it. Lowes had it.
Now we have built in spice racks that are wooden.
I like our cabinet drawer that pulls out the garbage cans. Not sure if that is something you can do on your own though.
If I had room under my kitchen sink ( the drains are too long), I would get things like Mandy posted above but for cleaning supplies. It's on a runner and you can pull it out, rather than have to go under the cabinet fishing for stuff.
magnetic spice racks are cool too. you can buy them yourself or diy

I like this idea A LOT, but I'd probably buy containers. Yup... I'm vain like that. Plus I really like these from Pottery Barn I saw on Beantown Baker's blog when she redid her kitchen.
cheaper alternative to PB?

Pottery Barn's are a 15-piece set for $19. I was shocked they were so reasonable... but they're square (which I like the appearance of better) which means I doubt they'll seal tight enough to hang.
Penzeys sells a variety of sizes for ~1.49 each... glass jars with black lids, which will go well in the kitchen. Surprisingly, the knife/magnetic strip might be the most pricey part. I can get one at Target for $20, but it'd be an easier sell if it was more of a strip like I can find on Amazon. Hmmm...
Graves: the one I had was around $15 at Lowes. And super easy to install (I did it myself which means anyone can do it).
I wish there was a better way to organize our pots and pans...it drives me crazy when I'm looking for a specific pot and it's always behind/under everything I don't need and then it takes forever to find the right lid. I really wish I had better cabinet space!
I told MH that someday,... we will have a hanging rack for my pots/pans. I HATE stacking them in the cupboard (they're the Pampered Chef ones so they're EFFING HEAVY to do that with! And you have to put paper towels or liners in between because the outside coating can scratch the inside non-stick lining.) I saw one on Target.com and am seriously considering seeing if we can make it work since it's only ~$60. LOL
I've seen the lid racks, Stacy - I think on BB&B's website. Or Target.com. Does anyone have them?
I'm thinking of doing the under the cupboard "magnetic" spice rack with the bottles from Penzeys (so glass jars with black lids; I'm wondering if I can put the metal washers on the inside of the lids). I think that'd work fairly well. Depending on our cupboards, I also might look at the wire racks that Beantown Baker features in her kitchen renovation because you can hold things over one another (plates above plates, etc.) And I saw the wine glass hanger that slips over the cupboard shelves - might add that since it was cheap.
My spice/sprinkle rack is def my fav kitchen thing. http://www.beantownbaker.com/2010/01/week-of-kitchen-renovations-spice-rack.html
We also have a pot rack. It's from Crate and Barrel and was $50 and def worth it!
