I'm going to be judgmental now

It's "casual" Friday, which means we can wear jeans, but must still look business appropriate (t-shirts are not allowed unless made by our agency).  And our office has been known to send people home for not dressing appropriately. Yet there is a woman here in a green velour sweat suit.  This is a state agency, and technically a legal office, and an employee is wearing a sweatsuit!!!!!!!!!! I'm judging her with my eyes. Huh?
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • A velour sweat suit?  I'm judging from afar.  I've seen a few older women wear these on the bus in the morning and I always where they work that would allow that.  But then again they probably think the same thing about some of my outfits

  • But does it say Juicy on the ass? Because that obviously classes it up.
I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.

    No, no Juicy. Sigh.

  • I think my boss owns one in every color.
  • I am judging from afar too. But this reminds me how do the people at your DMV offices dress? Everytime I go to the ones here, I wonder WTF are some of these people thinking wearing t-shirts. T-shirts with those stupid sayings nonetheless!

  • I don't go very often, but usually business casual IIRC.  Pants and button-downs, mostly.  State office =/= license to dress like you're going to the gym!

  • I would judge as well... My office is pretty lenient (sp?) on dress code, including casual Fridays.  A lot of people show up in sweatshirts, ball caps, etc.  I think that's a little too far.  Most of us dont meet with outside people but there are people here for meetings and such on a regular basis.  I think the official rule is business casual and it has to be jeans on Friday, no sweats, etc.  I try to keep my outfits to jeans and a sweater/button down in the winter, plain fitted t-shirt or casual top in the summer.  I do abuse the flip flop rule on casual Friday in the summer though...
  • Well then. I'm judging as well.

My office is very casual (including sweatshirts providing they be in good condition), but a track suit is taking it way too far. I mean, come on. I don't think I would wear a track suit to the grocery store, let alone work.

  • I used to wear velour track suits to work a few years ago when they were more "in." And for those who don't know, my office is extremely casual. "Jeans" is a dress up day here. We work in a Victorian farmhouse and don't see the public.

They were once "in"?  Stacy and Clinton would disagree... ;)

Wearing jeans to work still feels naughty to me. Is that weird?

I used to have to wear a full on business suit to work when I was a paralegal because GODFORBID a client come in and I be in a nice shirt and khakis. And this prob equates to where the naughtiness comes from.

I would seriously have to be ready to lose my house before I took a job where I had to wear a suit everyday I think... I hate dressing up unless its a fun party dress.  I think I could put up with a lot of crappy things about a job if they let me where jeans every day.

  • According to our dress code, I should be in a suit every day.  In fact they worked with Brooks Brothers to get us a discount there because apparently, that is the look we should all be going for with the exception of casual Fridays.

But.... here in designland, it's more realistic to wear the trends. Flannel tunics, leggings, solid tees with details, etc. are a dime-a-dozen.  Our buyers and sourcing teams are in shock when they walk around our floor some days.

  • When I was a teacher we had pretty strict rules about what we could wear.  No jeans, no skirts (it was a school for kids with behavioral problems, we did a lot of restraints and skirts weren't practical), no dangly necklaces or earrings or scarves, no heels, etc.

One of the teachers often wore a matching velour tracksuit .  Somehow, it does "technically" fit all of the rules, but I gave her major side eye.
