So DH calls me and says that his cousin drove past our house and it looks ilke someone spraypainted red on our fence.  DH goes home early for a doctor's appointment and goes to look at the damage.  There are 6 eight foot sections that are painted.  What's painted on them you ask?  Gang Symbols.  At least I am 99% sure they are based on his descriptions.  (I grew up with them, so I unfortunately know which ones are which).

We will be filing a police report today. DH had to beg for this appointment, so he had to go to it. 

I am livid right now.  I could have handled some stupid kid writing his name but gang signs are a different story.  He also thinks that someone tried to hop the fence.  I have never felt unsafe before and never saw gang signs anywhere.

This is the fence and the back right corner is where the spray paint is.

    I would be so pissed! Definitly call the cops...maybe they can up the patrolling of the area.

    the thing is, our backyard butts up right to a park and it's hard to see from the street, that's probably one reason we got targeted.  (most of the other houses in that area have chain link fences)

    my mom is there now and she said it was fine if we had the cops out now (in the daylight) rather than waiting for DH to get home from the doctor.  So, they are on their way, not that they could do much though.

    I'm sorry Mel.  I hate that there probably isn't anything the police can do but I do hope they up patrols in the area.

    I'm not sure if patrols would help.  They go up and down our street regularly (we are on a pretty main street) and like I said, it's hard to see in the park.

    Is the fence vinyl or wood?  It's hard to tell from the pic.  I know you can paint over it if it's wood and hopefully there is something that would remove it from the vinyl if that's what it is.

    It's vinyl.  The cop said they can have the county send out the grafitii busters but they stuff they use if really abrasive and will dull parts of the fence.  I found something on line that you take laquer thinner an dpaint it over the spraypaint, rub it off and the quickly take a spray bottle of dishwashing liquid and wash the laquer off.

    Fun times when its 30 degrees outside.  (The cop said it looked pretty fresh, so it may be easier to get off now).

    DH just got back from the store with some remover for spraypaint and he says its working really well.  I have pictures of the before that I'll post
