Recommend your rewards credit card, please

I'm in the market to change my current credit card.  I have a GM Visa, but I just bought a new car (Chysler since I got the employee discount and a family friend of DH owns the dealership) and now all the points I'm collecting are going towards nothing (I will keep this car 10 years, god willing).

What rewards card do you own?  DH has PC Mastercard but I'm not sure if I want to go this way.  I don't think I would use 'travel' miles either.  Just wondering what else is out there!  TIA

Re: Recommend your rewards credit card, please

  • We have an Air Miles Mastercard. Yes, it's travel rewards but you can use the points for lots of other things. In 3 1/2 years we've accumulated enough points to (hopefully) fly to Europe this fall. We put almost everything on the card and pay it off each month.
  • We use DH's RBC Infinite Avion card. It's a travel rewards card and it's a 1:1 ratio so every dollar you spend you get 1 point. We're planning on going to Europe this fall. We used points to pay for part of our honeymoon a couple years ago too. There's no restrictions or black out periods either. If you see a flight you want, you get it!

We put almost everything possible on DH's Visa and then pay it off each month.

  • I have the PC Mastercard.  I love it.  We do the same as Vicki (put everything on the Mastercard and pay it off each month).  I would say that I get at least $500 of free groceries a year, probably more.
  • We have a Canadian Tire MC.
  • I love my CIBC Aeroplan card. We got 3 free flights last year just based on the miles we collected. Occasionally I'll get restaurant vouchers instead.
  • I agree with Danielle. I have a CIBC Aeroplan card. DH has a Amex Aeroplan card so it's double the points for us. I used to have a PC mastercard but I didn't see the benefits. I got my CIBC card not that long ago and with the 15000 points I got right away I got a Bissel steam mop with my points. great card.

  • RBC Infinite Avion Card.

Its is mainly a travel card but you can also get merchandise and gift cards/vouchers as well. We got 15,000 points right away for opening the card which is enough for alot of gift cards or roundtrip ticket to any neighbor province.
