Ok... I have to get this out. I am PISSED. Our scale has been broken (just a dead battery) for a few weeks. I left it that way on purpose and concerntrated on starting to work out a few weeks ago and diet. And I"ve been really really good. Yes, I had a horrible day Friday and went out and ate a lot of food at dinner with friends, but still, I have been in the gym 3-4 times a week and dieting most other days and tracking my food and exercise on Sparkpeople. So today I decided it was time to weigh myself for the first time in a while to see if I'd made any progress. Popped a battery in there and lo and behold I have lost ZERO. WTF. I am eating WAY better than I was before the holidays and weeks leading up to them, I am exercising for god's sake, which I NEVER did before... and yet nothing. I am so freaking disappointed.

That stinks. Are you noticing differences in other places, like how your clothes fit or how much energy you have? Maybe your body is readjusting to the increased activity and you'll start to see it on the scale soon.
Still - that is awesome that you're doing something good for yourself. Hang in there!
Muscle weighs more than fat. If you hadn't weighed yourself throughout and gained muscle in place of fat, you wouldn't notice if you've lost pounds. The best way is to measure. Keep it up and drink lots of water!

Take a look at this...
Fat takes up more space than muscle for the same amount of weight. So 5 pounds of fat will make your body look larger than 5 pounds of muscle. Muscle is more dense and therefore smaller than the fat pound for pound. So you may weigh the same but have more muscle mass and therefore be slimmer after going to the gym for a while.
I feel your frustration- it sucks to see those #s not move, but as pps have said, our bodies sometimes take a while to catch up. It's great that you're going to the gym regularly- that is huge!
One thing I'd add about Sparkpeople -if you were using it before you started visiting the gym as much, and now you're increasing your exercise, make sure your settings in Spark reflect that added activity and that you're eating enough calories. Otherwise the bod will tend to hang on to every last thing. Oh, and make sure you're drinking enough water. Keep up the good work!
Good for you for making healthy decisions!!! I am sure you look marvelous, darling, but if it really, really worries you (as in, you're trying to lose weight to be healthier... low body weight doesn't necessarily = good health) definitely look into visiting a registered dietician.
Insurance might cover the cost, esp. if you have heard disease, for example, in your family or you have other health risks.
Weight loss is tough...I was RELIGIOUS about diet/exercise for my wedding and it took 9 months to lose 10 pounds. You'll be fine...just keep thinking long term!!
