recycling wire hangers??

Apologies in advance if it's a stupid question.

Can you throw wire clothes hangers in the recycle bin or do you have to take them to the dry cleaners.  (I know some collect them, but I'm not sure if all do)  I've got a ton of them and I want to get rid of them the easiest way possible...aside from chunking them in the trash can.

Thanks!

Re: recycling wire hangers??

  • Hey!  Wire hangers are used at consignment sales, so maybe post this on the baby board or Craigslist (if you think it's worth your effort to meet up with someone).  The big sale is at the Fairgrounds this weekend, and sellers already had to turn their stuff in, but I know somewhere I saw people asking if anyone had wire hangers (maybe TriangleMommies?).  B/C when you need them, they are hard to find.  Just thought I'd throw that idea out for you!  =)

  • I've also heard that the Salvation Army takes them.  I'd call around to some thrift stores, too.
